Why is Valguero so bright?

I was recently playing Valguero and found the brightness too much to handle in some areas, making it too hard to see anything. I lowered the brightness of my computer screen but it just made the solid white duller but no clearer

I tried to lower the gamma and that helped a little but it makes the inventory very dark

Is anyone else having this problem? It's limiting exploring to sunrise and sunset :/

Turn off bloom and light shafts.

I tried that but nothing changed, I will try again as the command may not have gone through right

Its not a command .... you turn off light shafts and bloom in your options.
