Good ol' classic example of this is say you have a pteranodon, which are the fastest flyers in the game. You hop off to pick up a loot crate and to your surprise a pack of raptors come out and attack it. If your pteranodon is on neutral it will start attacking back, flying at sonic speeds around the raptors. Good luck trying to remount in that fuster cluck! This is where you need to whistle passive (;), then whistle follow (J or T, depending if you have other dinos nearby), and preferably while running away to reduce the chances of the raptors targeting you... As your ptera reaches you jump up and remount.
Actually, maybe I should move all my whistles up to the Function keys before I find out the hard way what whistle my keyboard's mute button seems to be performing.
