Gali or female deer?
I'm currently riding around on a megaloceros or however you spell it and I wanna know if I should replace her with a gali. I've only had a gali once so I've forgotten how fast the gali is

(Probably should've mentioned that I'm playing extinction but thank you everyone for the advice and answers. I'll be sure to use it on other maps!)

Galli fastest land mount, and if you get a decent one with good weight it can hold 3 people.

Procoptodon are much better than both imo. Almost as fast as the galli, but much better at turning in tight spaces, and their ability to jump really high is handy for getting up cliffs or over obstacles. And if you get attacked, the knockback of their kick is powerful enough to keep even a rex at bay and stop it from hitting you too much.

while the galli is very fast....it has 3 major flaw's being really frail, having a terrible turning radius and sounds bloody annoying

the female megaloceros while 25% faster then males....it's not really worth using a female deer since they can't attack at all and the ONLY reason you should get a female deer is simply for breeding to get a very good mutated male deer

if you want a fast land creature there are far better options then those 2: thylacoleo's, dire wolves, raptor's, terror birds, iguanodon's, woolly rhinos (level their stamina since they have poor stamina usage), dire bear's, procoptodon's and horse's

Galli's are like land rockets that can jump across small rivers. If you want something to move fast on land, yes. Who cares if it's "frail," it can outrun everything.

They're not all that frail compared to other scout dinos like the pteradon or raptor, the thing to watch out for is is fall damage. They go fast enough they get decent air even on small jumps.

One other issue with them though is their attack radius. Their hitbox is right on the end of that long neck of theirs, which makes lining up attacks difficult, especially with smaller enemies. Fighting bugs with them is not fun.

Get a Therizino, Decent speed, decent turning but you won't need all that agility as it can shred just about anything. and the harvesting is just insane!

true cause it's claw's have a piercing effect where they ignore armor, those giant turkey's may be hell to tame cause of how many narcotics they will gobble up...but it's well worth it when you have the herbivore version of a t-rex

Their attack radius isn't an issue. You don't attack with a Galli, you RUN! :steamhappy:

While i was just answering the OP's question on which is faster, for me the Thylacoleo is the fastest since you can chain jumps into increasing speed, and you can traverse almost any terrain on them. For some reason they seem to swim well for a furry beast.

On a side note, most don't know that the Thylacoleo is a Marsupial like the Procoptodon (kangaroo) Well they know if they read the dossier for them. While modern day Thyla's were hunted to extinction, there have been reports of seeing them recently. Modern day Thyla's are about the size of a dingo/labrador.

Oh well just thought i would throw that in there.

yea thyla's are marsupials since their name Thylacoleo literally mean's Pouch Lion so they are in a way related to modern day marsupials like kangaroo's, koala's, wombat's and tasmanian devils

and for a marsupial cat they are surprisingly good swimmer's in ARK....that and they oddly prefer cooked meat over raw meat...which is strange since all the carnivores in ark prefer their meat to be fresh (the insects aside from the moth, karkinos and vultures however prefer their meat to be rotten)
Galli taming soaks up a ton of narcotics...an issue if you are early game.

Narcoberries work much better.

Only choose galli for the multi person saddle, for single use hoppers (frogs and roos) are exceptional for traveling while 'not' being a flyer technically. For the greatest combination of ease of taming and mobility, iguanadon is where its at - barely more than it takes to tame a parasaur and are pretty common making them easy to aquire and replace while the 'all fours' mode lets them run almost as fast as a ghalli and not using any stamina at all, but the 'hind legs'/combat stance lets them jump high enough to scale good sized boulders and ledges.

Fair enough, but have you ever tried gathering berries on a gali?:P

Given that they're marsupialss and based on the infamous drop bear, I have a hunch their preference for cooked meat is a barbecue reference. And its actually not that odd they're decent swimmers, tigers are as well. In captivity they've been know to play in pools, so they probably would chase pretty into shallow water if needed.

Ravagers also prefer cooked meat by the way. Now idea why. Always thought they were supposed to be mutated hyenadons, but maybe they're related to thylas.
