I'd normally ask why simply letting us pick up structures is such a gamebreaker that it has to be heavily restricted, but I've long come to realize there's no point in inquiring about this game's mechanics and balance.
Nothing to do with either of those. It's game balance. It would change the game in dramatic ways if structures had no limits on pick up.
It certainly doesn't change anything if you're PvP'ing and have to rebuild/repair after stuff gets destroyed.
I myself don't want to miss the S+-mod anymore, however. Picking up things with the demo-gun makes life on ark much easier. Especially offline (solo) life.
So who cares, if players wnat things served on a silver-platter? Those who want, can play on an unofficial. And those, who don't can play on an official server. And all are pleased.
If you want to move a smithy, it'll be easier to make a 2nd smithy in the location you want, then move every item over to it, as the items in the smithy will drop in a bag if you pick up a filled smithy.
