Yeah, the bary is probably my fav all-rounder too. I use procops to get somewhere fast, but the bary's versitillity is better if you don't need the speed.
gallimimus - Land
Iguanadon - Land
pteranadon - Air
Ichy - Ocean
My top 3 fastest creatures for land travel:
1. Diplodocus - though its saddle is expensive to craft, the diplodocus has a unbelievably high amount of health. It can also run faster than a raptor, and gather its own food. With so much speed and health, the diplodocus is incredibly difficult to kill, therefore your journeys are without a doubt safe from any predator.
2. Gallilimus - the Gallimimus is THE fastest land mount in ARK. There is no other mount faster than it. This is THE iconic fastest land mount without any hesitation. However, so much speed is drawn back by its pitiful health. When cornered by predators, your Galli will not survive.
3. Beelzebufo (Frog) - Around the same speed as the Diplo, but is able to attack other creatures with impressive damage, therefore the Beelzebufo is a great travelling mount that can quickly defend itself in a pinch. It can also jump high into the air, and swim at great speeds - something that the Diplo and Galli cannot do.
My Top 3 fastest creatures for water travel:
1. Icthyosaurus - Easy to tame and easy to craft its saddle, plus, it is the second fastest swimming creature in the game. The Icthyosaurus is without a doubt one of the best ways to travel around the island.
2. Manta - This is THE fastest swimming creature in ARK, but the Manta is hard to control. Beaching yourself with a Manta will instantly kill it, so only tame it if you're sure you wont kill it!
3. Plesiosaur - Once tamed, Plesiosaurs are very strong because of their damage and health combined. Their sprint speed is also very close to that of an Icthy - just almost.
My Top 3 fastest creatures for air travel:
1. Pteranodon - The pteranodon, often mistaken for pterodactyl, is the fastest flying creature on the island. It is easy to tame because its favorite food is Dodo kibble, and Dodos are quick to tame in the first place. However it doesn't have that much weight.
2. Pelagornis - These water birds are a little slower than the pteranodon, but they can swim in the water, making them both good in the sky and the ocean!
3. Tapejra - You can find Tapejara in the Redwoods (it's quite dangerous to go there). Tapejara are a little slower than Pelagornis, but they can climb trees.
Raptors are awesome
1. The Microraptor
2. The Gallimimus
3. The Basilisk(Aberration DLC)
4. The Giganotosaurus
5. The Procoptodon
For reference, i used this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5qdhFuxU-U
The video is nice, but it also doesnt take into account dinos with speeds that ramp up after a little bit
That said I would argue that the Procoptodon is easily the fastest way to get around on "land", though it spends most of it's travel time high in the sky. The fact that it is not only quick but can jump over and up onto obstacles makes it's effective speed considerably higher than say a gallimimus over rugged terrain. It also has very high knockback on its attack and the fastest backwards speed, making it very capable in combat by avoiding any damage. I actually always use my Procoptodon to take on Alpha Raptors and Carnos since I take almost no damage from them. An Alpha Rex on the other hand is much riskier as it seems to be able to outrange the Procoptodon with it's attacks.
So really the only thing that video seems to be useful for is comparing the speed of wild and non-riden creatures.
