Most pretty ragnarok base location.
Curious as to what everyone thinks is the best looking base location for ragnarok. I am planning on moving (in SP), the only requirement I have for my base is easy land access land dinos.

Well you have the castle, but it would take repairing the bridge and fixing the holes in the castle.

Otherwise there are well.. plenty of spots dpending on what you find pretty. jungle? desert? highlands, mountain

I have the best problem ever... I find everywhere pretty lol. Last playthrough I set up in the desert and was fun so maybe somewhere else. Highlands I worry of gigas

You've basically described most of the map. Also beauty is subjective so on a map that intentially have multitudes of places specifically meant for bases, it would help if you perhaps explained more about what you're looking for.

Also use the awesome teleporters mod and then the entire map is open to you based on the easy access to land dinos point.

Sure thing!

Things I am looking for in a good base location:
-Easy land access for land dinos.
-No water pen required for aquatic dinosaurs
-Decent area for largeish base
-Does not have to be near obilisk
-Supply of water (like rivers/dams)
-Close (within 1 minute wyvern flight) supply of rare resource (metal/crystal)
-Awesome looking lol

Also, I have used teleporters before but I find them slightly cheaty but that's just my take.

Also because of my breeding intentions (not yet but soon!) the castle seems a tad small.

Yeah then the castle will get to cramped.

In that case you have the plateau in front of the castle actually. it is relatively flat, There is closeby a large circular ish area on a rockface for a good base spot. And metal, Obsidian is closeby around the castle and ravines. crystal too i think?

Otherwise there is also the Highlands, Plenty of areas for building a base on cliffs or plains, metal, crystal and Obsidian scattered around the ravine though it. and the wyvern trench closeby for hunting/sulfur

I've found pirate cave to be good place to settle. Plenty of room, possibility for water pen, access points to water, land and air. Metal, crystal and obsi in close perimeters. Large waterfall is nice in background.

Only downsides are limited area for greenhouse, distance from volcano and beavers.
And possibility of rexes or theris falling down but this rarely happens and you can always build a wall around the airway.

If you feel up to it you could fix the bridge and use the plateau for dino storage, and use the castle as your not-so-humble abode. Put all your crafting stuff, flyers, and whatnot there.

Phlinger Phoo and the other Gaming Evolved guys built it up during their "Ragnarok nomads" series, might give you some ideas. They built just about everywhere you can think of actually.

The redwood plateau just before max height is the best in my hearth and easy to access and corresponds to everything else you asked

Thanks for ideas guys

I've set up a big castle base on the Heru ur Rise mountain at around 27, 45ish, between the two beaver rivers. That's a fantastic location in my opinion.

It has a reasonably flat lower plateau for dino storage, and the peak makes a good main base area. It's close to Viking Bay for silica pearls, and there's plenty of metal and crystal in the valleys and the canyon to the south.

But best of all is the view - you get a full 360degree panorama all around. To the east is the volcano which you can see errupting from time to time. North is the Mejo Plains and Maple Roost plateaus, and the river in the valley. To the NW you can even see a bit into Viking Bay, and due west is dominated by Hibbert's Summit and the Jackknife Glacier. Then to the south you have the massive walls of the canyon and the peaks of the murdersnow mountains.

Wow that's awesome. That is definitely inspiring.

You know what, just scoped out the area and checked the wiki. I think I might just set up camp there! That really is a cool spot. AND the specific spot has not rex spawn but all around the mountain they spawn instead. An yeah, the view is a big tick.

Btw does anyone know how to unlock stone cliff platforms w/out aberration? Or is there a way I can go to aberraton and return without going to a VERY deadly aberration terminal?
🦊 Hermit Oct 3, 2019 @ 6:25pm
Glad you like the place^^

And as far as I'm aware you can transfer out of Abs using the standard loot crates that spawn below the surface (although I may have heard rumour that this doesn't work on single player, so best to double-check that before going ahead with it).

Alternatively, you could change the crafting requirements for one in the config files so it doesn't require fungal wood or any other Abs items, then spawn in a blueprint in your game that you can craft from.
