How Much Better are High Grade Blue Prints?
The weapon blue prints you find, are occasionally better graded, and thus grants better damage output. But how much better are they, in comparison to a stronger weapon's base craft grade?

Like, I find a purple blueprint of a, Crossbow. How would it fare against a base grade Compound Bow with Metal Arrow?

Or, Mastercraft Machined Sniper against a base Longneck Rifle.

Alot better. Your best bet would be to test them out in SP. Being able to hold and shoot them will be more rewarding then just having someone telling you a bunch of numbers in a forum

A Hell of alot better.

As example on a 200% Crossbow you need 36 Torpor Arrows, a 100% Compound Bow will need 92.

Well, that is true.
Though, testing is kind of expensive, considering that Fabricators runs on some precious materials, and I haven't found much when it comes to cements, unless I want to invoke the wrath of beavers.

Its mainly always better by far, and what it lacks of increased damage, Durability gains, and vice versa. The increased resource cost is often worth it (less its a saddle and it calls for a nearly ungodly amount of resources).

To me it's definitely worth it, I can tell a lot, especially with tools, like Picks and Hatchets, although most people like gathering resources with a dino, High damage tools gather resources pretty quickly. As someone stated above, it can help with taming and all sorts of stuff, as well as keep you safer, in the cases of armor and saddles, it seems like a lot of work to actually craft higher tier stuff, but worth it in the long run. I think if you get on the arkpedia, it explains base damages, and I would think modifiying them with percentages would help compare accurately, unless there is another variable im not considering. Keep in mind certain creatures take less damage to certain types of weapons, like the Rock Golem and stuff. But you won't really know if its worth it to you until you try, but read up on specifics items and it could help you decide if its worth the effort to test.

I would believe that's because a Compound Bow is actually weaker than Crossbow, but becomes stronger if you use Metal Arrow?

Check the bottom of this page: https://ark.gamepedia.com/Base_Damage

It has listings of the weapons, along with their base damage and torp stats. So you can figure out whether your bloop is actually better or not.

For example a primative fabricated sniper does 165 damage per shot at 100%, whereas a primative longneck hits for 280. So the sniper would have to have a damage value of around 190% in order to equal a primative longneck shot.

That's a neat list.

a good level long neck rifle is about as strong as a compound bow using metal arrows

might not sound like much but a rifle is way easier to maintain and the ammo is a lot cheaper. the long neck also has tranq darts so its got more utility

my personal favorite was a simple pistol i found that had allmost 400% damage on it, makeing its damage per shot on par with a high level long neck except it fires much faster

never found a high level compound bow but going off what iv seen so far i bet they put out some series damage

I love the simple pistols, the crafting cost for ammo is a nice bonus on top of it.
Sure reload time is a bit long, but they are great as a back up weapon.

It says exact damage of each weapon on wiki. I am not sure how strong each recipe can get but I think normally it is somewhere 300-400% for most items but I know I had several pikes with over 700% damage, I don't think all items can get that strong.

The only thing isn't damage though. A fabricated sniper shoot faster but does less damage than a longneck. A pike has longer range but only half the damage of a sword.

one thing to keep in mind also is the item durability

even it its armour or insulation or damage isnt better, its usually worth taking just for the extra durability
I got a rare longneck rifle bp 130% DMG (364) at cost of 330 metal ingots compared to 280 for the normal version. Good investment :)

weapons have base damage

use the wiki

check percentages against base damages and compare

compare mat costs between weapon types
