Other then that I love carno's personally. Have a soft spot for them after my first tame when the game came out was a carno. Muffin recked everything.
Therizinosaurus is quite a perfect creature, great combat (double the dps of a rex!!!!) great gather, can gather meat without eating it... Just perfect
I noticed tylacoleos are damn strong, more for their climbing abilities, which sucks compared to megalania's but megalania's combat abilities are worthless if not used against humans :(
You know what? The best medium sized creature is surely the phoenyx, can smelt, poops pearls, sets on fire, flies, surely not a combat option, but her unique abilities makes it the best mid sized creatures
Thank you for reply! I've heard many times that Megalosaurus is very strong, but for me personally it's uncomfortable to travel only at night and wait while he sleeps like a kitten :)
I agree about Therizino, I have a tamed 120 lvl, now he is 200+, I can't imagine a dino for gathering better than him. And he can easily kills all attackers (or tickle them to death). But for me it is too big, slow and awkward. But I've never tried to kill some alpha with him, it's a bit scary to try and lose it, because his taming was the longest of all I had (I didn't have kibble for him, it's difficult for me to get one) and it was not even possible to leave him alone because this dino incredibly fast losing his torpor, so I almost lost my mind and don't want to tame them any more.
I know nothing about Phoenix, I didn't even read his description and unfortunately I'm playing not on scorched earth. And btw phoenix is a flying creature, if I was going to choose from flying dinos too, then I would take him or wyvern and annihilate the entire map. But for now I don't even have a griffin, so I can only dream about a wyvern or phoenix :)
If you're looking for one that can escape as well as fight, you might wanna consider the thylacoleo in that case too. It isn't as fast as the bary, and not as tanky as the bear, but it's decent in both speed and fighting. But it can also run straight up vertical cliffs, which could be a very handy escape route if you're ambushed by something unexpectedly. Alpha rexes are deadly, but they can't climb for beans ;)
I agree that the Bear, Thyla and Therizi are awesome mounts, each with their strengths and weaknesses.
I myself prefer the Baryonyx and the Wolves. One of the first tames I get, is a Dire Wolf - then proceed to tame it's opposite sex mate and have a go at breeding the perfect Pack.
I feel the Wolf has a decent speed, DPS and if you can tame 2-3 extras, you even have your personnal bodyguards. It can't escape sticky situations like the Thyla, but having a Pack surely helps. And, if you're to lose 1 or 2.. or the whole pack (except for your mount) when faced with an Alpha Rex... as long as you live through it, it's good, right? :P
Here's how I set my pack:
Main Mount: Level Weight to carry me and never be over 60% of its max weight, the rest in Stam and HP.
Pack: HP, Melee Damage % and nothing else.
I often travel all over Ragnarok with them and they literally destroy whatever Rexes I meet. Granted, they're bred with the best possible stats - which requires a LOT of patience / effort, but I don't regret it one bit!
