Tips for finding Rex and Gigas on The Island?
So im on an unofficial PvE server with some OP mods and very high rates, due to the fact that i dont have a lot of time to play anymore due to work. So i have access to things like Purple Narcotics (7,000 torpor from a crossbow) and the likes.

I really want to get a group of rexes and gigas and a Yuny or two to take on the bosses. The dino level limit is at least 500, probably higher though. But i cant find any rexes or gigas!

I Live on the ledge over the blood lake (at least thats what i call it, the red lake north of green obi), and i constantly check the north of the mountain nearby, carno island, and the areas between blood lake and the mountain mid-way across the map... Basically the entire north-east corner of the map. Yet i rarely find Rexes, and when i do they are very low level. Even for a vanilla server standard... level 9-30 is all. And i have never once seen a Giga. Even on Carno Island, im lucky to find 2 or 3. Tons of Carnos though.

Are there any special places or methods i can use to find rexes and gigas easier? I really just wanna get a few tek pieces, never played with them before so really excited! Thank you guys so much :)

Two spots I see the most rexes on the Island are on Carno Isle and the north shore of the river that runs north of the redwood biome.

It's possible the server you're playing has gigas disabled, (you'd know better than I if that's true or not, PVE has no reason to disable) but at least, according to the wiki, they're found near the mountain peaks, on each of the mountains. If they do indeed spawn, there may be as little as one on the map at a time, and as they have rather large aggro range, they won't be that easy to find all the time.

As far as I know, gigas can't enter boss arenas. Best luck in finding them would be to scour each mountain peak-- not the tippy top, but half-way up.

Dead island... never heard of that one, will go see if i can find it! And i'll go check FT, i never heard of gigas spawning there, thanks!

Gigas arent disabled, i've seen (and heard) a few that are/were being tamed. I had no idea gigas couldnt do bosses, in that case i guess just rexes and a Yut or two for the buffs. Thanks guys, i'll get looking! :)

It's another name for Carno Island. Monster Island is also sometimes used for it.

ohh gotcha!
Yea i just flew there, there was litterally 0 Rexes there.

I found 11 rexes so far on the main land, highest level was 45... on a server where dinos are found at almost level 300, this is depressing

If you wipe everything on the island and force them to respawn, rexes will show up eventually. They don't spawn there every new spawn rotation though.

hmm, gonna try that then. I live like a 1 minute flight from there, and my argie has 10k% damage, so thatll be fast.
About how often is a spawn rotation?

I levelled a wolf up there a while back, going round and round doing laps of the island, and I got rexes spawning roughly every fourth lap or so. The quicker you can kill off the placeholders, the quicker new ones will spawn.

To speed up spawn rate chance : Kill everything you do not want around the spot and repeat at bigger area.

Rexes : Carno/Dead island; most middle/bottom part of almost all mountains; Riverside
Gigas : Spawn at Top middle part of mountains [both Snow Mountains; Frozen Tooth & Far Peak]

If your server has many players, they might have killed the gigas or "lured" them to bottom part of the mountains.

hmm, thats quite often then :o
on my server, dead island has a ton of Argents, Scorps, and Carnos. A few raptors and sabers, but few rexes. I'll give that trick a shot and see what i can yoink out of it.

I was fortunate to come across an abandoned tamed level 415 rex, other then that... only 1 other tame of a 97 :( i levelled it up a lot but still depressing.

I see a lot of rexes around crystal and obsidian mountains. At least one giga often wanders around obsi mountain, a bit north from it.

And as others said already - kill everything you don't want to tame so game will spawn dinos again.

In the snow biome you will find lots of Yuty and some rexes too.
I usually find Gigas when I do not want to tame one, while I'm farming metal. All the mountains had at least 1 at some poing of my playthrough.

Sorry i didnt get back to everyone last night!

I ended up trying Hermits advice with my Argent (OP cuz of the server settings, 500% speed and 10,000% damage) and just raced around the island. Spawn rates were still extremely low, but within an hour i had found 4"acceptable" rexes and 1 good tame. Now i just either have to level some up or find new ones (server limit of 10 per dino to prevent lag/wipe problems)

But thank you guys so much, im still gonna try to find at least 1 or 2 gigas, i'll go check the mountains as soon as i get on!
