Official Server Settings?
Hi you people :-)

I've got some questions about hosting server, more about the settings :P. I have searched in google and the forum and didn't find anything that would be helpful in my case.

The first question is do the official ark servers use the same settings?

And if yes, where can I find their default settings?
Because I hosted a server for me and my friends and we played but for them the leveling for example takes to long and we feel like on official servers we levelled way faster. But I want to still keep the game fair and not cheaty you know ;).

I would be really thankful if anyone could help me with that problem :D
Bye :8bitheart:

Official settings are default. So starting a server with all default settings would be identical to an official server.
Okay thank you. But I'm kinda confused coz in official servers I was level 50 after about dunno 5-10 hours and on my server we took the same time to level 30 :P
Anyways you're awesome thank you <3
I don't believe the default settings for Ark's servers are the same as official. Right off the bat, the difficulty offset when creating a server is a default of 0.2. This would result in a max level dino of 15, while on official servers, the max level for a wild dino is 120. This would mean that the difficulty offset for an official server would need to be set at 1.0.

Desired Difficulty Offset is defined as (DinoMaxLevel / 30 - 0.5) / 3.5.

This equation results on official as (120/30-0.5)/3.5=1.0

I am in the same boat as Merlin. I would like an official settings for all of Ark's official servers so I can mimic them on my private server.
After looking through Ark's game files, I found C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\CleanSourceConfigs

[ServerSettings]
DifficultyOffset=0.000000

This is interesting because it appears the default official server settings are 1.0 (no surprise here), but there is one setting that threw me off for a second.

On the server creation page, the default difficulty offset is 0.2, however on official it's 0.000000. From my earlier post, we know that the max level dinos on official are 120 in the wild. The formula for this is:

(MaxLevelDino / 30 - 0.5) / 3.5

Inputting the correct numerical values, we get:

(120 / 30 - 0.5) / 3.5 = 1.0

However, this does not compute if we set difficulty offset as 0.000000 as is set in the games server files.

I did a little digging and found that if you set the difficulty offset to 0.00000, it defaults to 1.0!!!

TL;DR

For official server settings, just change the difficulty from 0.2 to 1.0 and click go!
Oh dude, I'm really thankful :) But I don't get your calculations right now :D probably coz I had maths and physics the whole day at the university and my brain is over for todaay :D
Still very thankful for your answer sir! :)
greetings from germany :P

Cause originally when game first came out, the default difficulty for dino is lv 1-30 (0.2) and setting slider to 1.0 is lv 4-120 which is 4x.
Official servers are on 5x and you need to have different setting to change as the slider doesnt accept any value higher than 1.0. You need to use ?OverrideOfficialDifficulty=5.0
Yeah that's a good point, I did forget about the difficulty. That is different between official and default, and higher dinos do give more XP too. My bad. But the rest of the settings should be the same I believe.
Hello everyone! I have a problem with what you guys are saying about the difficulty setting and max dino lvl. My server is set to .2 difficulty but i have been killed by a lvl 45 dino. Maybe i am misunderstanding the dino lvl?

Thanks!

It deppends on what kind of Dino it is you are fighting. Level 5000 Dodo is still weaker than level 1 Trex

For that realistic official experience walk up to each door and back 5 times before opening it

Should the dino lvls not be capped at lvl36 for a difficulty setting of .2?
