Aquatic animals can drown now, any solutions?
The sabertooth salmon causes a bug where their o2 draining attack will permenantly make sharks, mosasaurs etc lose oxygen and eventually die, their oxygen can never recover and it's basically a function of permenant HP loss.

There are bug reports about this going back to July 2016 so it's safe to say this bug will never be seen to (Y'know, it's early access so there is no need to fix it, and as long as they never release the game, there never will be)

Butthurt rant aside, The only solutions I have found on forums is "Get a new one" and "Try to avoid salmon"

Some of these tames are like 8-10 hours long, so constantly getting new ones is not realistic.
The salmon are also abundant, there are hundreds of them in the water caves and if you hit one, the entire cave swarms at you, which is an instant death sentence for any animal you brought.

The only real option I found is to only use Spinos, because their oxygen actually has a script to recover out of water but goes down slow enough to still use underwater, however, because of another game breaking bug in the game, the rubber banding into the terrain, means swimming a spino around a cave and being forced to rub against walls with their awful turning radius means you are definately going to lose it to a bug eventually aswell, already have one stuck in the wall forever.

I'm on an official server so there are no admins so none of that stuff is an option, and I dislike private servers more because they get wiped once the owner is bored or out of money.

So has anyone discovered another bug to counter this bug? Can you randomly forcefeed your sharks / mosas lazerus stew, does a random combination of berries bug a reset etc.

All Wildcard would need to do to fix this is remove the o2 meter drain from salmons until they fix it, but seeing as according to my findings, they haven't even done that for 7 months, it's safe to assume they won't be.

I think I've read in another thread about this bug that they can't actually die from it. Their 'oxygen' will eventually be completely depleted and the lung symbol will appear, but they won't actually lose any health from it.

Can anybody confirm that? As for now, I'm more scared of sabertooth salmon than of alpha mosas, when I'm out on my mosa. lol

Have you tried a lazarus chowder?

It's just a visual glitch, it doesn't affect health of the dino.

I agree it needs fixing, but it's not a major gamebreaking bug.

I got nothing I want to risk xD All i saw on forums was people saying their things had indeed died from it.

Can you confirm them not dying yourself? I skipped through patch notes using F3 search for keywords like "drowning" to try and see if there were any fixes, but saw nothing.

Hm, I have a low level Megalodon that I'm not particularly attached to, I might just try it and post some screenshots.

I haven't tried it myself no, but I have seen one of the WildCard community relations staff post on the matter, and he said it was purely visual and had no effect on gameplay.

http://ark.gamepedia.com/Kibble
Preferred Kibble = 5x Speed = ★★★★★

The following list is about lvl 150 aquatic creatures:

Angler = Kibble (Kairuku Egg) = 1:35:57
Dunkleo = Kibble (Titanboa Egg) = 0:46:41
Ichty = Kibble (Dodo Egg) = 0:41:08
Manta = AnglerGel = 0:39:30
Megalodon = Kibble (Spino Egg) = 1:19:10
Mosasaurus = Kibble (Quetzal Egg) = 2:16:10
Plesiosaur = Kibble (Rex Egg) = 1:43:37
Sarco = Kibble (Trike Egg) = 1:07:58
Tusoteuthis = 50 Black Pearls = 6:28:54

Even the longest tame in the list isnt 8 hours.
And the list is at 1x rates. on 1.5x rates at weekend you can substract 1/3 of the times.

If you waste 8-10h on taming one creature, you should consider reading the wiki about taming/kibble and align your playstyle to that (making a kibble farm or buying the kibble from other pplayers with metal or good BPs/Saddles/Weapons).

This is an issue caused by the sabertooth salmon. When they bite a creature, they then begin to lose oxygen while the bleed effect is happening. It is just a graphical bug. When reaching 0 oxygen, your tamed creature will not die however it will show that it is currently suffocating and will continue to do so. We hope to get this fixed in an upcoming patch but it's not something that hinders gameplay, but it does cause panic for our players.

Thanks, "cause panic for our players" is damn right :P
