Griffins are simply too beastly to be bothered by simple rock and string bolas.
Do y'all just carry the supplies with you while out hunting them? I brought tons of wood stuff to build around them but they break it so easy. Will go with stone next time.
I'd recommend carrying 16-20 pillars, 20 ceilings, and a dino gate/gateframe with you to tame up a Griffin. (Stone, preferably.) Find a good spot at the base of a hill/mountain/butte (hehe) and plant yourself a taming pen.
It's easiest with two people. Someone on a ptera, argent, or griffin should aggro the wild griffin and lead it towards the open dino-gate. As it approaches, have the second person inside the pen start shooting tranqs at the wild griffin, which will in turn swap targets and chase the player on foot right into the pen. The second player shuts the gate, tranq down and GG.
I like taming griffs at the base of a butte (hehe) to the east of the beaver sanctuary, as that's where I see the most high levels. (that general area) If you have another griffin, dive over to the other side of the volcano to that plains area and murder up a few sheep for mutton, there's usually plenty over there.
When you're done taming, unlock the dino gate so others can use it and leave the taming pen there for future use. (Unlocking a stone taming pen will reduce server clutter because 30 other tribes don't have to build their own. I usually throw a message in global chat with the coords of a community griffin taming area...and often on PvP servers it becomes kind of a neutral zone)
Thanks dude! Yea I'll give this a shot. I keep finding a ton of them near where the map isn't finished.
