Best dinos for solo players?
I don't know most of these new dinos are their uses so I want to what dinos are the best for solo tribes. So far I have an iguanadon frog and ptera. I know an argent and swamp oxygen fish is good but I don't know what else is good.

Doed for stone, Anky for metal, beaver for wood, megaloceros for thatch. Akky is also good for gathering stone and flint together for making sparkpowder. great for early game.

Raptors. Lots and lots of raptors. When in doubt, breed more raptors.

I am a solo player so no quetzals , meaning ankys will be a bit bad unless I make a metal farming base, doeds are just ♥♥♥♥♥ because I never need stone, beavers same thing wood is easy to obtain. I don't need chunks of stone or wood when I have chunks of metal

Ankylo is pretty good at thatch too, could cut down on the dino list if you use that. Same for berries, don't need a dedicated berry gatherer imo.

@OP - a great all-rounder I've found is a baryonix. It's reasonably fast moving, can be levelled in melee to hit pretty hard, and no oxygen stat and a stun attack in water makes it an excellent ocean mount. Get a decent quality saddle on it and it covers a lot of the bases.

Another good one, if you can get hold of it, is a mantis. Put a good set of tools in it's claws and it can out-gather a beaver, doed and ankylo easily, and it's abillity to carry weapons makes it a pretty good fighter too. Only weaknesses are low health and weight, but a good defense saddle will help with the first, and having a mule dino on follow that you can unload onto will fix the latter.

You can still tame a quetzal in single player, it just takes a lot of work. Basically you need to hunt it down so you can force it to the ground or into a mountain wall where you've built a huge trapping cage.

It's doable, but very frustrating.

The Anky is a good multi-purpose choice. They've got good base health and gain a good bit with each level put into it, so you can get a pretty tough critter without putting many levels into HP. As a gatherer, you're going put melee levels into them as well. In the end, with a little planning, you can have a critter that can gather a decent variet of things well and can hold its own in a fight. They're freaking speed boats in the water.

Is it 'the best', no. Honestly though, what's best is what works best for you and your play style.

Don't forget you can use an anky to tank bigger dinos while you're shooting them in the face, since you can use your crossbow from an Anky's back.

i second the barryonx for an early game mount, good speed health and weight but still easy enough to tame early on, plus the water speed makes it a good all around. Raptors are good for gaurd dogs but with so little weight they will only carry you not any loot. With an anky IF your close enough to a metal mountain to use it. ptera's ehh they are kinda like the raptor if you need a flyer ok but if you can get a tapi then your ptera's will be forgotten soon.

I can only share experiences from multiplayer PvE sessions since I've never done the single-player mode. One of the better tames I could get is the Argentavis, but you have to be pretty-leveled up to be able to craft the saddle. It's just a matter of constructing a taming cage for wild argents; I recommend engaging only one argent at a time.

Everything in the dilo kibble tree, and everything in the parasaur kibble tree aside from the parasaur itself.

I noticed the 5 largest kibble trees all seem to have themes to them.
The lystrosaurus tree is exclusively intended for team play.
The scorpion tree is filled with difficult tames that can benefit a solo player, but you should probably tame in groups.
The dodo tree has the easiest but weakest tames for basic functionality.
The dilo tree is the medium difficulty and medium reward between the dodo and scorpion trees.
The pegomastax tree is for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy, or people who want their tames to take up as little room as possible.

If you're able to get some crops growing, I definitely recommend going out and taming a decent level Equus. Early-ish mount for the saddle, decent carry weight, fast, and their torpor attack can help you get out of most bad situations (if enough points put into stamina). I use mine all the time when harvesting and scouting on land.

i believe Vorex is referring to the 75% bonus in weight for wood with the mammoth
the beaver only gets 50% ? i think its either 50% or 25% not sure
