Basilosaurus fighting
Me and my friend just tamed one and were wondering what other aquatic critters we can kill with one. It's only level 22 at the moment though which wasn't helped by us losing our megalodon trying to kill the stupid zerg of mantas around it. :<

depends on its damage stat, though I personally wouldn't use one for combat. Seek out something with a bit more power to it

But aren't they immune to the giant squid and jellyfish's attacks?

They are, but Jellies aren't an issue if you give them their space and squids are not as tough as they look

Yes, they cant be grabed by the squid and cant be stun/electrify by the jellys
Since you say yours is lvl 22, you're probably safe to take on mantas and sharks as long as you stay near the surface where the Basil will heal fast. Jellyfish and Anglers should work fine too. Maybe even low level mosas and plesiosaurs, but I'd be careful; I lost my first, low-level Basil thanks to a squid clipping me into immobility, and mosas can do that too. You also won't have a lot of HP to tank with. Next time you tame a Basil, have a speed ichthy/manta/diplocaul to gather manta aggro and kite it elsewhere. Works pretty well.

With something lvl 125/200+? EVERYTHING! If you're careful and run to the surface to heal when needed.
Dive into swarms of mantas. Nomnomnom!
Swarms of megalodons. Nomnomnom!
Jellyfish! They can't tranq you!
Take on multiple plesiosaurs.
Multiple Mosas (at least low level).
Anglers. You'll never run out of gel again!
Hunt those squid for black pearls. They can't pick you up! But be careful of clipping.
You can go after alpha mosas too, but you'll want to do hit and runs back to the surface (mine has 175% speed, so that helps too). Also be careful of clipping.

So basically the poor whales are just another pointless tame? :<

I love mine for the Cavern of Lost Faith, but it was a level 130 pre-tame I believe. They do have a good hitbox and high natural health and the whole rapid regen thing, so who knows. I'd expect it to replace your shark fairly well, at least.

Well see the problem is after having our server back up for like a week now on The Island we've found just this ONE basi in the cove in the middle of the southern part of the main landmass. Honestly after all the hours I've spent flying along the coast and ocean on my ptera I think my poor shift keys are about ready to explode.

You're joking right? Basilosaurs rek pretty much everything with ease. Obviously Redhearts is only a low level one so obviously he's have to be careful and pick his fights, but I tamed a lvl 80 and then proceeded to destroy everything I met, and my 110 is even better. The only fight I've avoided with it is Alpha Mosa's purely because it would take so very very long to take one down. Low level Alpha squids are no problem on it though, it chomps through Mosas and Plesis like no ones business. Dunkles I tend to leave be because again, they just take too long to kill as my 160 odd damage gets reduced down to about 30 odd.

No, they generate oil over time, they are basically oil farms

Well I guess this is less horrific than clubbing helpless penguins for polymers. q.q

How can you honestly use the word rek when a Basil with 333% melee damage does 165 damage? It takes ages to deal with anything midlevel and up.
I know from experience since I just tamed one with that melee damage and our server plays with floating damage numbers.

Some crazy nutjob on Reddit claimed to deal with Alpha Mosas with the Basil. Never in a million years will the Basil be a good choice for that job.
