The problem with Ark's Holiday Events.

Ark's events items has always been nearly impossible obtain. Most players wont earn it, a very small margin will (by cheating it in mostly) and some just dont give hoot anymore about the events. I wish it was like runescape, more of a obtainable objective, that way everyone has the ability to get it. Its like they make it so its just outta reach to keep you playing.

Why not just make it a fun little side quest that rewards us like a token of gratitude for purchasing this game, and suffering through its development, thought out and implimented in away so everyone has the chance to get the reward with out grinding a week to earn it. A more reasonable amount of time would be like 1 or 2 days worth of grinding, and item spoiling / despawning of these event items is for the birds. The ONE chocolate i did have from yesterday is now spoiled today.

With a 10% Drop chance per breeding and a cost of five chocolate boxes, you'll have had to do an average of 50 breedings to get the hairstyle, or 150 breedings to get the hair, beard, and emote. Worth it? I dont know about you, but i just returned to ark after not playing for 6 months or more. I do not have a ton of dinos and to follow i dont usually obtain alot of dinos due to the tamed dino cap limit and i would rather limit myself so others can tame things.

I love the event idea's, i love the items you could get. Althought i wish i just could actually get the items. Ive been playing since Ark's Early Access Launch, Ive yet to earn any Event Items (Not due to the lack of trying).

Also the devs need to better explain the events and all information about them as a whole. Took me atleast 3 hours to find out how to get chocolates and where to get the skin, and ultimately i ended up finding out from the forums from some other player, it shouldnt be rocket science to get infomation on how to participate in the events..

The problem is, from an Admins point of view, the release notes are somewhat confusing:
* ARK Valentine's Day Event until February 20:
*** Dinos will, 10% of the time, drop Box of Chocolates when they mate. Box of Chocolates can be used for a Full-Heal or to advance 50% of a Taming Dino's Bar

The notes don't say you have to have -vday in order to get the chocolates, that option seems to indicate its just for the boosted rates.

I gave out 1 box of chocolate on my server to everyone who logged in yesterday while I was online as a gift.

Easy enough for a low population server I guess. For those with more than 5 players during peak (or god forbid multiple servers) monitoring all day to hand out chocolates is absolutely off the table. Even putting them in drops leaves some players out. I just set my servers up to give out a chocolate up to once per day when a player types !vday, !chocolate, or some other similar terms.

You shouldnt have to set that stuff up is my point in this post, if the devs just raised the drop rates, tested this stuff more, all this could be figured out before it got to the public. The drop rates are low, and the spoil timers need to go away or need to be set for spoiling when the events are due to be over. these events should either stop or just be properly executed.

well, taming a bunch of dodos and mating them sounds like not a hard objective. Although 2 hours spoil time? Thats some flummery. That means that to unlock something you need to have on average 50 females mating at same time and 5 boxes are not even guaranteed.

It is hard when you reach the tamed dino limit on a server, or just start a server and are not prepared for a event such as this.. Yes spoil timers are just killing it. It needs to be increaed to not spoil until the event is over.

Its unrealistic goals thats the problem. I do play on a unoffical servers, i dont know who the admin is or how to contact them but i do know this sucks. It needs to be improved and thats the point in posting this. Its not to start a debate, or arguement, its to bring to the stage a problem that is constantly a thing with every event update and that needs to be addressed or just stop making them. Simple as that. If nobody complains about it, nothing changes. I wont sit back and accept whats being placed in front of me. My only intentions is to help the Devs grow and this game become better, because this is a awesome game (aside from this and a few other hiccups), id hate to see its community go over lack of logical thinking.

EDIT: Its also to bring to light, lack of clear communitication from the devs on how to even obtain event items, event commands for the admins and everything else along those lines.

Commands for the admins? It's extremely clear what commands are available, what they do, where to put them, etc. Not sure what you mean by that.

You're pushing your own responsibility off onto someone else. If you want things different than the devs have provided, play on an unofficial WHERE YOU KNOW IT IS BETTER. Saying you don't know the admin means you didn't do your due diligence. If you don't know that an unofficial is in line with your own gaming preferences, that's your own fault.

The events are clearly exactly how the developers intended for them to be. 99% of things that people disagree with stay in the game, primarily because you can change everything on an unofficial. That's the theme, that's why we are all in Ark, and that's why there are 40 billion Ark servers with zero people on them.

Find the admin or find a new community. You are responsible for your own gaming experience. Do your due diligence next time and find out who the admin is, what the rules are, what's planned, etc.

2 hours is incorrect its almost 25 days ina fridge i think its 8 on hand a dodo farm can easily farm this if your patient if you wanna "activly" pursue keep taming new females till you have enough its perfectly doable alone faster in groups

i have no luck so i could breed a zillion dinos and get 0 chocolates. last year i had a H U G E yard to myself and bred every single dino everytime i could during the event and got 0 chocolates. this year i couldnt be bothered to even breed 1 cause theres just no point in wasting fridge space with eggs ill never hatch. id rather use it on more kibble that actually has a use.

Unoffical isnt the answer to every thing, sure they can tweek settings but its shouldnt be that way. Ill keep repeating myself.

Literally one of the easiest events as even a lvl 1 can get the chocolate boxes (need to power level a bit afterwards to get the cooking pot though) by making a Dodo box.
You should be around for Easter or Thanksgiving, now THAT is for high level players only, plus the hunt for Turkeys and Oviraptors with bunny ears took hours upon hours.
This event was a cakewalk compared to the others.

2:read my response to the other i was just asking because if you were it may be a server issue onofficial the event just isnt that hard with a large dodo pen maybe a sheep flock and daily persistant breeding keep hunting new dodo females to replace bred ones if you wanna speed it up alot
