Customize Local sessions?
Anyone know how i can do this, My wife and i are gonna play Ark via local hosting and such but i'd really like to have like a higher max level and all that good stuff like most dedicated servers have.

Is there any tool i can use or just anything i can edit in the games files to let me do this? Because there's only so little you can edit before you start the local session.

There is Ark Server Manager, but I don't know if that works for non-dedicated sessions, might be dedicated servers only.

Failing that, you can adjust the settings for non-dedicated directly in the config files on the host machine. Go to Steam > steamapps > common > ARK > ShooterGame > Saved > Config > WindowsNoEditor and look for two files, GameUserSettings.ini and Game.ini.

Open them up in a text editor such as Windows Notepad. GameUserSettings has a section caled [ServerSettings] which has most of the multiplier settings for adjustment. Game.ini should be blank initially, but it can be used to add other, more in-depth config changes such as custom levels etc. Paste the header [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] at the top of the file, then add in other configs on new lines below it.

Here's a link to the wiki listing most of the config options you can change, along with explanations of what they do: http://ark.gamepedia.com/Server_Configuration

I'd like to second Ark Server manager. I know you're looking for non-dedicated but, so were we. We eventually decided to make a dedicated server and it is WAY less stessful on my machine, gives us much more customization and removes all tethering.

I'm probably gonna have to work with it. I tried using it and for some reason it wouldn't show up in the browser so i ended up just copying and pasting the Game files into my local folder and that worked for a bit but now its just buggy as hell lol.. so im gonna have to figure out how to make it work.

Thanks for the help guys.

Actually I'd have to second the suggestion of a dedicated server if you can get it to work, although for different reasons. Single player and non-dedicated servers do have a few longstanding bugs with them that the devs have yet to fix...issues like cave dinos not spawning and leaving caves completely empty, and certain 'rare' dinos like titanosaurs and quetzals spawning too frequently and filling up the map.

Hosting a dedicated server is tricky, admittedly, and it does take a decent computer to do it (although not much more than hosing a non-ded), so it's not for everyone. But it is perhaps something to consider if you're able. Your call.

Well i hosted a non-ded for about two hours and my PC handled it like a champ while i played so i think it's all good.

The tethering does become a problem.
