Scorched Earth worth it?
My wife and I play on nondedicated pve server.

Would this expansion add alot to our experince besides having new map and new dinos?

Are the Cave Dungeons or eqivlant easy to access but hard to go complete ?

Is the map stable without bugs? Example on The Center map lots of patches by snow region that dinos and players can drop and fall under the world floating in air and drowning to nothing?

Thanks for helping me to decide wether or not its worth the buy!!! :cactuar:

map is pretty stable with a good amount of polish to it. The sandstorm and heat waves are miserable though. Had a lot of fun on my playthrough of scorched earth, but ill never play it again.

In my opinion buying dlc for a currently unfinished and already paid for game, is just rewarding bad behaviour, as well as encouraging more of it from wildcard.

No one asked for a moral lesson, lol.

Scorched Earth is pretty cool if you're into Ark. I got burnt out on Ark in general after constant base raids and joining a few servers only to find them reset and all my progress lost, so I can't really recommend it that enthusiastically, but if you like the base game, it might be worth checking out. Maybe watch a YouTuber play it to get an idea of what it's like.

The map itself is well created but not really worth the cost (imo) all the content can be gotten through mods for free, The cave is just about the same difficulty as the others. The Manticore and raising your 1st wyvern are probably the biggest challenges on the map.

The new creatures aren't really all that great, sure the mantis is fun (until you realise just how incredibly low its hp is) Vulture sounds great for meat gathering (until you realise you need to practically stand on top of the carcass for it to take meat so you may as well just hit it), Morello just stays stood around as a water tank, Jerboa has 0 use beyond weather warnings, Thorny is just a beaver that throws weak tranq darts from it's tail, Elementals just remove any challenge from the map with the exception of wild elementals who have ridiculous hp and damage reduction (a lvl 8 wild took my lvl 130 to under 50% hp before it died). The weather as mentioned above is just annoying, it doesn't offer any challenge it just stops your game play for awhile the only weather system that is an issue is superheat, sandstorms will never kill you, just stay still and your stamina will remain at 0 with you never passing out.

While I prefer SE map to vanilla for asthetics, after a short while I find it lacking in variety, I find myself relying on mostly the same vanilla creatures wolf/saber, carno, doed, anky, argie, The rex is just the most pointless addition to the map, you find one or 2 spawned in the most random places and always wheres it's big clunky self will get jammed inbetween rocks or stuck on a 2ft high slope it just doesn't fit the theme at all.

Just my thoughts on it.

Thanks for the info will keep that in mind and yea not a big fan of buying an expansion for a very unstable game still in Early access. But wifey really likes the game its only reason I am even considering buying another map.

There was no bad behaviour.

You can definitely get all the dino's and items yes, but you can't get the map for free - so not all the content.

It's a great expansion. New map, new dino's, new uses for things and the weather makes things difficult early on instead of everything being about avoiding dino's. Easily worth the full price if you're into the base game and work anywhere that pays as much or more than a part time job at maccas.

I am playing it now have bought it yesterday due to 57% sale I also a playing local I am enjoying my time it like ark but just alittle different main differences no sea or any purely aquatic or amphibian creatures apart from the new Croc (not sarco kur- something) the morello is an improvement on the trike imo due to faster speed and more stam water is nice to, also proctos (kangaroos) are every where opposed to the island where they are very rare oil is much more accessible due to alternative means of access due to know sea I personally like the lack of big predators (no spinos very few Rexs) but I always found the vast abundance am annoyance on the island.

Tldr version worth it for a different experience if you like the Base game particularly on sale. Make your own call on the dlc for ea game issue as that is moral and therefore highly subjective.

Any Issues with the map itself like areas of ground that if you walk into it you fall through map and die/ get trapped? The Center has way too much of that sh!t.......
Noroth101 Feb 6, 2017 @ 5:49am
Not in my experience bear in mind the centre was originally a mod map that wildcard liked scorched earth was built from scratch by wildcard like the island. One issue is there are alot of rocks scattered about so bigger creatures (my Carno) can get stuck so you have to dig them out by mining the rock, this happens in the Base game as well and the scorched earth map is not as bad for this as bits of the jungle on the island map

stfu if you support this scam gtfo and play it, people must know what a paid dlc on early access means, its one of the biggest scams in game industry ever

Interesting didnt realize it was a mod map that would make sense for alot of the "Quirks" I have been running into.

Its fun for about an hour. After that you realize you'll be staring at sand for as long as you stay there. The dinos out side of the Wyvren are meh. The Island and The Center are better long term IMO.

This map seems a lot more stable than any of the other maps. It's very fun and I think has a lot more challange. I personally like dragons, so that's why I got SE. :P
