Is it better to use a higher damage rifle to tranq dart dinos?

Just wondering if I should be using the basic grey quality weapson since I don't want to hurt the dino, I just want to knock it out or do the high quality ones do the job quicker?

Depends on the sino, generally yes. I've killed some low levels ones on accident with mastercraft rifles before, so be careful lol

Also true with Dimetrodons even high levels.

Again... depends.

If the target has high health, more damage will knock it out faster... low health targets require caution.

Torpor adjusts with damage, so higher damage weapons will do more torpor too. So as a general rule the higher the damage the better. With low health dinos you'd have similar issues whether the weapon was ascendant or primative, however the issues would just be exassibated with ascendant because of the spike damage from a single shot. So you just have to time your shots more carefully, and perhaps go for body shots rather than head.
