Hyaenodon taming the easy way!
Here is how you do it:

Catch a hyaenodon and throw it in your taming pen. Now place a wooden cage and herd it into it. Since it is now frightened and wants to flee, move outside of its view distance so it calms down. If you accidently spook it just leave the render distance again to calm it down again.
Now put your ghillie suit on and approach the cage in a crouched position. Note: Never stand up while you´re near it, or it will instantly notice you.
At first it will move and turn around in the cage, but it will not take long untill it gets itself stuck. If you´re lucky like me it will get stuck with it backside facing the cagedoor, which is perfect, as you can see on the following picture.

Now put a clock infront of you, which shows the seconds and when it is time to cuddle (every 30 sec) quickly open the door, cuddle it, close it again and back up a few feet.
Take some time, since it will only get 2-3 percent for each cuddle.
The hardest task is to not fall asleep, because it is rather boring. ;)
Just repeat this until it is at 100 %.
As you can see in the following pictures, it never moved away from this stuck position the entire process, so it is really easy to do.

Enjoy your hyaenodon!

Cheers

I'll give this method a try. Thanks.

problem is these guys ignore server taming rates, which is why it only gets 2 to 3% per pet, which is crazy

uhh, you do realize these rates are not 'adjustable' on official right?

They're talking about unofficial servers/single player.

who is? the op doesnt mention anything about specific servers. I understand that poster was talking about unofficial ONLY but thats kinda my point. the topic is about taming and therefore applies to any and all servers (except no-tame servers)

sorry for the offtopic

It does bring up the question though, since this critter ignores boosted taming rates on unofficial/SP, will it also ignore boosted taming rate events on official servers? It also brings up the issue of setting a precedent of such a mechanic and whether WC could/would also apply this limitation to all passive taming methods and/or other critters.

Knowing Wildcard, it's probably just an oversight on their part.

Do believe they are not adjustable AT ALL
x1 and x5 taming rates pet at the same rates.

Exactly, I have taming set to 10, still it takes an eternity to tame one. But it works =)

Even if you can't pick up wild dinos, you can still build a pen to spook it into. Or get a pack to chase you into a pen, then kill all but 1 of them.

I hope they fix that at some point. Even if you were to get 3% per time and you do it as fast as possible (every 30 seconds), that's still 16 and a half minutes of nothing but staring at dog butt.

Yeah, I did try once, but the dam thing bugged out and never let me pet it again. tossed it back into the wild and forgot about them. just not worth the effort if its going to bug.
