Oviraptor Level - Does it matter?
I mean for the egg speed buff, does the rank make any difference? or should i just get low level to save on eggs and taming time?

edit: from what i can tell it doesnt, but im assuming its a straight buff that is not 'variable'

Nope. Tame the lowest level you can find with Dodo eggs and use that buff it brings :)

his bad :D

the only somewhat "legitimate" reason to tame a higher leveled one is just to get higher health. other than that, i see no purpose to it.

Health really doesn't matter since they never leave the base. If you get raided and someone gets close enough to kill your ovi then you've already lost the battle and the ovi should be the last thing you're worried about.

I always level food.

Yeah exactly. I really don't understand the HP argument for dinos like this. Had an argument with someone who was adamant your snail should have high HP, not food. When someone is raiding you and intend to kill your passives, they will wipe your dinos whether they have 500hp or 5k.

All of my egg dinos have food pumped, no other stat needed for dinos like that.

you do know they only need eggs for taming right? most will eat raw meat or w/e after tame, atleast thats true for oviraptor :P

I'm pretty sure he(?) means the dinos used specifically for laying eggs to make kibble..

What does that have to do with me pumping food stat????

I pump food so that I don't have to worry about a dino with 500 food starving due to infrequent feeding.

ahh ofc my bad

edit:first tame ive done that needed eggs :p so guess it was stuck in my head hehe

some points in health is ok..for long durations of absence .but points in food is manditory, yes yes you would think..higher the level better the production....maybe a futures upgrade.

health wouldnt matter as food is taken when health is regenerated . So higher food level the longer you can be away .

The one reason for higher health is wilds. They will attack anything nearset them(maybe not ovis, they tend to get ingnored in the wild not sure when tamed). If someone drops a wild in your base, your ovi / lystros might be what gets attacked, if they can tank a few hits, it will give your defense dinos a chance to kill the attacker.
The occasional glitch may also spawn a wild into your base as well, I've had this happen a few times(I was the only one on the server, at the time so I know it was not dropped in). This has happend twice to me I think, once was a low lvl raptor. but the other time it was 75+ Threozeno.

As far a snails and dung beetles, I keep them inside my base for saftey and convience. If somone manages to get into the base, the health on them will likely be irrelevant, I lvl weight on the dung beetles and food on the snails as their food is harder to keep around.

A bit higher food helps but your attack dinos will likley keep you logging in often enough to feed them to keep you "buffs" from starving. In the end what you lvl on your "buff" dinos is up to you, I have a lystro with 300% movement just for the heck of it.....It's funny to watch it run....

Good for those pesky Allos that like to spawn inside bases. Gives the defensive dinos+plants more time to react and take them out! Without the bug..yeah i really dont see a reason.

For anyone that comes across this thread nearly all the information above is incorrect. If you are using them to collect eggs then level does matter. Pumping into attack increases the egg gathering range.
