The reason gigas get less powerful when tamed is because they love you so they lose all their strenth so they can give you lots of hugs :)
lol Good one XD

Here is an insight as to events I have witnessed a while back...

Lv.125 wild Dire Bear vs Lv.150 wild Rex in vanilla settings. Bear won with impunity.

Why? I agree that the tamed Dire Bear does not hold a candle to a tamed Rex, however some creatures ingame, when wild, do a lot more damage then their tamed counterparts or less in some cases. A wild Dire Bear does double the damage PER HIT of a tamed one. Dire Bear has higher base damage than Rex but a lot less AoE and is entirely devoid of HP to beat a rex normally in a quality breed vs quality breed. However, wild Dire Bear do 100 base damage with standard and 120 with alt, more than enough to beat a wild Rex despite the clear HP pool advantage.

I think it is to make it fit with the narrative of 'apex of the snow biome'.... despite barely ever spawning there...

And obviously the wild ones are stronger; they are big, russian bears, tamed ones are care-bears.

Not really. A rex will win in most sitiuations. Putting a low level rex against a high sure bear is incomparable.

The fact that people are saying rex is better is very annoying, it isnt. Sure the direbear has low health but i mean the guy was right, 125 direbear vs 150 rex? Direbear still wins. Bit insane id say. Im not saying tamed need a nerf. If anything i love direbears. Always fun to use. Either way, whichever one of tamed will almost always win. But thats true with almost every dino. Am I right? And gigas? its because they are already so powerful, but it isnt nearly as bad as the direbear loses. Direbear needs more love and attention. Like its fluffy little butt deserves

And even though they are omnivores, They still eat meat so I'm allowed to compare it to the rex <3

This was meant to be funny. And no, a direbear can easily kill a low rex, easily making them one of the best carnivores, their only issue is their health
And a leveled tamed rex would easily demolish any and all direbears. :P So, you can't say your high level direbear is better than rexes because you can kill wild rexes with it.
I had a perfect tamed max level raptor that after leveling was able to kill rexes with ease. Does that mean the raptor is better than rexes or is the best carvo? No. It doesn't. Plus, Bears are not carnos, they are omnivores.
This is disappointing. If i get a perf direbear level in only health and melee, and fight a rex the same level and same stuff leveled, direbear would probs win. And your raptor can kill a rex, if you freshtame a direbear and try to kill a rex, you will succeed, its sad you are making that comparison when youve probs leveled that raptor a bunch and only kill lvl 10 rexs xD. Not sure how you say rex is better, in your own words.

And how can you say the same thing about bears? Lvl 150 perfect tamed rex versus a perfect tamed lvl 150 bear, rex will win easy mode.

I follow the opposite opinion.

Dire bear is not meant to be a combat-focused beast. It has less HP then Carno, arguably the most underpowered and entirely outclassed creature in the entire game and has been since EA first launched. Dire Bear is an amazing generalist mount, it does not need to surpass a dino who's sole value is PvP/PvE vs bosses. It gets meat, berries, fiber, has immense carryweight, is very fast and fairly agile. It is very easy to level because it has power yet it convenient to move around to ideal areas.

I just think the wild Dire Bear should not do double damage, it should do as much as a tamed one, but for pete's sake do not double the tamed damage or even increase it. It should have more HP tho, the fact that the pig has 900 base HP, Rex 1000, and the Dire Bear only has 400 seems a bit skewed. Maybe 700 or so would make more sense as the pig is built entirely as a combat support.

Direbear would be great for caves if it wasn't good for only like 2-3 caves. But they are great in those caves they can come back from.

the thing is, when people make threads like this, everyone who replies here with their valid opinion's assume that the OP is playing on the same stage as them, or vice versa to the OP, alot of these debates would be more on par if people would state what server/settings they play on, obviously people who play on officials will have a different opinion vs someone who plays on a server with the dino nerfs reverted.
