I think it is to make it fit with the narrative of 'apex of the snow biome'.... despite barely ever spawning there...
And obviously the wild ones are stronger; they are big, russian bears, tamed ones are care-bears.
Sometimes i whip them
Sometimes i shoot rpg at giga
sometimes i kill my gigas for being useless pieces of poop sorry i cant cuss mummy in room :(
And how can you say the same thing about bears? Lvl 150 perfect tamed rex versus a perfect tamed lvl 150 bear, rex will win easy mode.
I follow the opposite opinion.
Dire bear is not meant to be a combat-focused beast. It has less HP then Carno, arguably the most underpowered and entirely outclassed creature in the entire game and has been since EA first launched. Dire Bear is an amazing generalist mount, it does not need to surpass a dino who's sole value is PvP/PvE vs bosses. It gets meat, berries, fiber, has immense carryweight, is very fast and fairly agile. It is very easy to level because it has power yet it convenient to move around to ideal areas.
I just think the wild Dire Bear should not do double damage, it should do as much as a tamed one, but for pete's sake do not double the tamed damage or even increase it. It should have more HP tho, the fact that the pig has 900 base HP, Rex 1000, and the Dire Bear only has 400 seems a bit skewed. Maybe 700 or so would make more sense as the pig is built entirely as a combat support.
