Try use overclock for stagger him.
NuhUh 12 fev. 2016 às 14:38
Spam overclock and your highest level Thundara/Thundaga/Elemental.

Actually I've only just beat him myself, and probably to my shame it is only on his 4th form that I actually nailed the game's stagger mechanics. I 've tried spamming overclock, but I managed to do nothing but spend all my EP. What really helped me is this bit of advice: do not let his stagger pulse rest at all. I was under the impression that stagger happens within seconds of the first attack, but when I realized that blue pulse line remained and increased over time as I did occassional small attack combo with some -ra spells and physical attacks (Caius's sword helps greatly), I proceeded to stagger him over the course of about 30-45 seconds where in between Bhunivelze did a whole attack cycle from one Heartless Angel to the next,

So once again: keep his stagger wave alive and don't be discouraged that you can't stagger him immediately with -ra spells which seem to drive the stagger wave crazy for a second. Be persistent, and even without overclock with a pretty shabby line-up of abilities you can stagger him.

It wasn't that bad as long as use thundara and aerora together, maybe even on several of your garbs.

You kinda of have to set up your abilities for him, your standard set may not do if it's not already set up in a way to stagger tough enemies when encountered.

thanks for the advice guys, did u guys finished him on ng or ng+ , i somehow couldnt kill him on ng so i started ng+ to get more stats. Well all my garbs have aerora and thundara and i have no problem until his 4th form. Even saving 2 overclocks couldnt bring me to stagger him so yea ... gg

That's a shame but a lil' tip for later: try to not get the 14th day if you're in ng+! (bhunivelze+ does't not fool around!).
Oh yeah, and having a ruin (for example on your damage dealer suit martial monk / soldier of peace) can help maintaining the stagger, placed between some aerora and thundara since you'll be spamming them from afar.
tonyfinale 18 fev. 2016 às 22:21
I hope you're not just spamming magic from afar; you gotta keep up the pressure with attacks if you wanna sustain the stagger. never give up
Dagný 19 fev. 2016 às 22:16
thats odd, I didn't have a single problem with his last form. I didn't even saved overdrive because I had more problems with one of his previous forms.

once I managed to stagger him with aerora I switched to the physical garb and heavy attack lv4 did a ♥♥♥♥ ton of damage

Bhunivelze isn't that Cocoon remake? I was wondering why Hope didn't just put it on Pulse with like a bug zapper... How does it become an enemy when the machina and fal'cie are done. Are you telling me he's not the man of castle, but a man of despair

I'm in this world where the protagaists are Yeul, Snow, Atomos to a degree... and I'm playing the crappy bad guys like the Farron family. So destroy cocoon, even after the Oerba clock puzzles....

In order to stagger his last form you need to be using some very specific abilities. Tier 2 elemental abilities. The game implies that tier 3 (aga~) is best for staggering but thats not the case, use the ~ra type spells instead. Overclock will help as it allows you to use more abilities in a smaller amount of time.

Note: Overclock will fully replenish your ATB guages, so use it after you deplete them.

To stagger Bunivhelze I used normal attack which makes Lightning jump in the air, then I switch to mage garb and use aerora 2x, switch to warrior garb and use normal attack again, switch to mage and use aerora 2x,... this way Lightning will never fall back to the ground and i can keep spamming.

Just managed to beat Bhunivelze, that was quite some task! Was struggling on his 4th form as well until I've found the right set of garbs and abilities. The advices to use -ra spells were not enough in fact.
Instead I've equiped strong physical attacks such as Attack 4 on the Equilibrium + garb, Heavy Slash (he ate that one by the roots as it was hitting for 30k when Deprotect was on), had Vengeance as second garb, Beat Down helps a lot if you didn't loot the ability and the third garb was Déjà vu, Mediguard 3 comes in handy to replenish HPs + Blitz 3, the rest of the slots were filled with -ra spells but didn't use them much. Managed to save all my EPs + 1 ether for the 4th form. Spammed all the physical attacks over 6 OCs and that was it.

Hope that can help !

Another tip, because I learned it the hard way in the Ultimate Dungeon.

Watch the animations. The last hit of every spell has a longer animation and a slight cooldown. So, if you use an ability only once and immediately switch to another garb, use another, switch and so on you'll only use the fastest animation. The last combo of a spell hits harder, but that's not the problem when you want to stagger quickly.

That also works to keep yourself in air with melee attacks. It's quite fun once you get the hang of it and shows how much depth the combat system actually has.
