What is the aim of EU5?, for fun or alternate history or nation simulation or just history playback

I have been playing EU5 since release and still playing up to 1.3. what I have seen is it is getting more and more complicated and more and more difficult rather than fun part.

I think playing a grand strategy game is to win with reliving the history or re shaping the history. In EU5 it is more and more complicated with alots of limitations to players to build an Empire and limit down to small nation. Further away from world a conquest I didn't even seen no body rebuild the British Empire. Most of the gameplay videos on media stopped playing around 200 years.

In EU 4 I have seen alot of videos of conquest of the world even Aztez win the whole world.

So whats the point of limiting players not to grow.
I think the essence of playing a game is reshaping the history.
