[MAJOR ISSUE 1.2] Assets loading very slowly, EXTREME lag in some menus.
Some assets just load highly blurry versions and load very slowly in general. This wasn't an issue in 1.1 and now it is an issue. Which icons load and which don't seems random and clicking away and clicking again on a particular menu reloads the assets and sometimes fixes the problem, sometimes different assets don't load. Furthermore, clicking ANY COUNTRIES DIPLOMACY SCREEN OR ANY LOCATION reduces the FPS from 60 to 1.

I am running the game on linux however windows users have expressed to me identical lag problems but in DIFFERENT menus while they were using a 5090.

Idk what could possibly be so big in this update that I can't load the loading screens from the main menu anymore after waiting for 100% of assets to load on the main menu but whatever it is, it's not worth the trouble.

Did you check to make sure the files aren't corrupted or your settings didn't get changed?

Yep as another poster suggested. That didn't fix the problems.
Are you using DirectX 12 or Vulkan? I noticed the slower loading on DirectX 12 but not on Vulkan, though I did get slightly higher frames on DirectX 12 but the dips from opening menus is still there.

Vulkan only since I'm on Linux.
You can still use DX12, you would just translate it back to Vulkan, which can be beneficial if for example they absolutely destroy their native Vulkan renderer. Unfortunate that you are experiencing it on native Vulkan though since that fixes it for me but I am on Windows, I would at least suggest it. Other than that you could try clearing your shader cache for the game since Icons are also having inconsistencies.

That did work but did not fix the problem. Thank you for your suggestion. I'll try clearing my shader cache too but I doubt that's the issue.
Wait, wasn't EU5 only made with Windows being supported?

That means if you're playing it on Linux most of your problems are probably because of Linux not being officially supported.

No, it doesn't. Proton works great.

It might work but that doesn't mean it's flawless, because it's not officially supported a lot of your games issues might be of your own making.

Having a working operating system is not an 'issue'. You have spyware installed on your computer made by a company whose founder has repeatedly expressed how billions of humans need to die 'for the good of mankind'. Microsoft exclusively produces viruses now.

1.1 ran just fine. Issues created in the emulated windows directory- because that's what proton does, emulate windows- are issues that would persist if I were to install windows in the same controlled environment in the same way. Many other people running windows are having the same problems as I am after the 1.2 update. I would suggest you read on the paradox forums if you'd like more examples.
Furthermore many people (not me) use Steam Decks- a top selling item on steam which runs linux- to play EuV through proton and the performance has, historically, been perfectly fine. Get mad about it and try to craft some narrative.

You're taking this too personally, all I'm saying is that some of the issues you've been having might be because of Linux. Unless we have Windows users also reporting the same things we can't rule out that it's specifically a Linux/Proton issue.

I've read that the game actually runs terribly on Steam decks, which makes sense because the game requirements are high.

super funny you're blaming linux for a problem that is being reported on windows too.
