Assimulating Cultures
I'm having an issue with assimulating cultures that have 0 Cultural Tradition or Influence.

In theory, the pops should be flocking to my culture; but instead it's taking longer and longer after each tick despite these cultures being non-existent.

Increase control (control is CRUCIAL. make a second advison increasing control ALWAYS), make sure that trade node (center of trade, province with a market) for a province being assimilated is of your culture (if not, make it that way by expelling people and provoking migration - regular assimilation is blocked for burghers), make sure your culture opinion about a culture you are trying assimilate is hostile, and their opinion about your culture is friendly. Make sure centralization/decentralization slider is not giving you penalty. Only then assimilate.
I have control maxed out, trade node is my culture, they are hostile to the culture; I'm completely decentralized so that could be a reason why.
Also you cannot assimilate tribe. Are they tribe?

This. Took me a while to figure it out but yeah...you gotta settle tribes before assimilating their cultures.

Settling is slow. It's better to expell them. They spread around and settle in multiple provinces.
Nope; almost no tribes. One location has about 800 but that's it. My control ranges from 60-80%.

Go to province view, demographics and hover over different classes of people living there. Also hover over "assimilation". You should see all the modifiers and you should learn what decreases you assimilation rate.
