What do you guys think of the 1.4 open beta? is it worth trying?
From what i've heard, they nerfed granaries and added new mechanics similar to mana..I know the game is faster in regards to daily tickets but is it faster gameplay wise?...I don,t know but it seems devs are overcomplicating features again and punishing the player with new ultra fun mechanics like a new plague...what do you think?
Almost forgot to ask, are regular armies more affordable now?

PoliticalInfluence mana has its pros and cons. It is mana - so it sucks. However you can take some political decisions without hurting your stability or legitimacy which is an improvement.

I don't like new faster pace. I think that it dumbed down the warfare too much and there is not enough granularity to have a "smooth" gameplay.

Other changes are fine. You can finally arrange bethrothal for kids. There is a semi-automatization for trade (you can setup general orders to supply construction or building input). There are tarrifs to customize trading even more. I also noticed a lot of QoL small changes. What else... cardinals are no longer buildings - they are people now.

To sum up - I think the patch is a step in right direction - except removal of hourly ticks. I hope they will bring back more granurality after some performance optimization. New mana mechanics sucks, but it sucks less than a previous solution. Still needs balancing though. Maybe we should be able to still take some actions when we lack of PoliticalInfulence - but then it would lower stability/legitimacy like before. I would like to see less mechanics preventing a player from acting and making decisions. Also I really hate that most of interactions with vassals is blocked during a war. There is always a war somewhere if your empire is large enough. -_-'

im pretty sure the stability and legitimacy are basically just mana too though so i dont really see a problem with adding one more
We are basically back to EU4 with 3 types of mana (and everyone like to moan about that). Next we will get missions.

Faster pace is amazing, I will never play any old version again.
Same people spouting their own agenda on here constantly
Meh
An overhyper patch that really doesn't change much from 1.3, gameplaywise

Amazing, people share their opinion in a thread where ops is literally asking for opinion. Shame!

please be respectful of other people,s opinions, we all want to have a great game to enjoy, so discussion is healthy
I still have not reached 1400 on my 1.4 beta run so this is all from early game:

- Diseases are still in the game - awful idea - luckily I have a mod that removes them

- New mana pool (Political Influence) is used for any action and you never have enough of it - I have a mod that increases PI generation

- Integration, building etc is still terribly slow even with new better speed - yep, modded it to be faster

- Everyone is still extremely poor for first couple centuries - a mod to the rescue

- Personal Unions are still terrible and I have no mod to fix it

- Crusades feel much more useful now

- France has lost 3 wars in my 1.4 beta run and has been reduced to pale shadow of the blob it usually grows to. So has Hungary. Could be just a lucky accident

-Kiyv still blobs so that has not been fixed

- You are still constantly bombarded with endless popups and there is no way to turn these off permanently (maybe I could write mod for that too)

- Have not seen massive amount of countries jumping in to support rebels on the other side of the map yet. So, fixed I guess

Basically, once heavily modded, 1.4 is playable. And better compared to 1.3. However, without mods there are still way too many annoying things. PU being completely useless is something I doubt will be fixed any time soon, if ever, and these are kinda important.
why even make a new game if ur going to make it play and feel just liike eu 4
PU useless? I play as Castile and PU with Naples, Portugal and Provence is what keeps me rolling. Are you sure you're using PUs in a right way? Why you consider them useless?

So essentially playing a grand strategy game with having to do none of the grand strategy of building a nation? if that works for you, more power to you.

Not a fan of trade - love tariffs - hate how the AI will just eliminate or ignore a trade order I wanted despite modifying everything I can to make it take place in the market.
thank you for all the detailed answers guys!, for now I think i,ll stick to 1.3 and wait for the 1.4 stable, thanks!
