1.4 is awful
simply words, influence is awful, the Tunis "content" is nice, but you just made them annoying to play with the unique subjects, terrible privledges. and with the influence you can't assign cabinet members fast enough before they die and you need to do all the crap with influence it just sucks. Paradox took the worst part of eu4 and based half the game on it. Tariffs are cool. everything else sucks, the new location UI looks worse? like lets rollback to 1.3 and just give us the content. the biggest thing the game lacks is unique content not more mechanics. especially one that is only there to limit you further 1.5/10 patch.

I agree. The biggest changes in this patch suck:
- per-day ticks - terrible (war is less tactical and depends more on amount of forces)
- political influence mana - terrible (even in previous patch the game wanted you to be passive as a player and punished you for activity. here you can act even less).

I like:
- tarrifs
- betrothal of kids (however it is undercooked - i want to be able to break betrothals between other countries etc.)
- decisions are boring now - nothing interesting there but maybe it will be better in later phases of game. However I appreciate I can expell Jews from Castile.
- industry setting is fun but it should be without a limit - simply pick it per each province

The rest like new cardinals etc. I'm still exploring.
i would like to explore more, but i went back to 1.3 because its just more fun to play. Influence/mana ruin it. I like decisions also. i honestly feel like i could be more positive if it wasn't for influence it just makes the game feel slower than it already is and i just hate it lmao. as a person who played through the 1.1 BS i hate this more because its not a bug its a "feature"
the performance fixes alone makes the game actually enjoyable to play so no its the best patch

I've never had issues with performance so it doesn't appeal to me. And let's be honest, this game will be developed for a whole next decade. You WILL buy a new, stronger PC at some point. So it's better not to ruin gameplay for performance.
the performance was objectively bad in 1.3 regardless of pc specs with several scripts being very unoptimised, some even being blatantly updated every frame pointlessly.

I dont think i like political mana either though,
i dont like that theyre trying to artifically balance estate actions like the give 20 stab button from commoners or 15 legitimacy one with some extra fake cost
instead of just not adding such a blatantly obviously you have to press this button because its always the correct move to begin with.

im fine with daily combat since it was just too easy to cheese the AI by sniping their stacks from the number of extra locations added in eu5 alone anyway
hourly ticks should be reasonably easy to mod back in just like daily ticks were anyway so i dont really care.
Are those per-day ticks optional? Why they moved back from per-hour tick to how it was in EU4? Will only end up in the faster and shorter campaigns.
Shorter and faster campaign is what a modern audience wants apparently.
Big agree, im trying to play as the Knights Hospitaller and because of the new Political Influence mechanic you get stuck in a constant debt spiral. you can't get military sponsorships fast enough to pull yourself out of it because of the diplomatic capacity.

It just doesn't work.

So the same people who played EU4 then?
I just hate the way Paradox release games, then change fundamental mechanics after people have bought it. That is just not on at all. They are pushing the boundaries of what is legal really. If I buy a game I should have faith that I am getting a fairly finalised version, which maybe just needs a bit of fleshing out, but should definitely NOT change in terms of basic mechanics.

EU5, Civ 7 - wtf is going on with computer games now ????

This is a disease that is eating most of games recently. Check the story of Football Manager 26.

Yeah well I am claiming my money back for EU5. It is not the game I thought I had purchased.
Hmm, you think that would be possible? Its basically still the same game. I believe you have to make very good points for a refund that is outside of the 2 weeks or 2 hours of playtime. Can you give an example on the reasons you want to give?

No because on looking at it further I didn't even buy it via Steam lol I bought it elsewhere so I am probably stuffed. I will likely just have to wait for it to mature into a decent game in a years time or two. But I have warned of the state of the game on my review.
I miss the hourly ticks as well as performance never really seemed a big issue but as a micro manager I also am not a fan of the new trade. I LOVE the idea of tariffs. But trying to grow different industries thus far has been a bear since even if I click the button to mandate X amount of trade capacity to a good, the AI will simply still remove that trade whenever it wants.
