Egypt in 1.4 feels like chewing gravel...

So I finally started an Egypt playthrough in 1.4. Thinking how I would always face Egypt or France in my playthroughs as a powerhouse I thought I'd finally give it a go. It is painful to the point of quitting. Tax base is high but control is nearly impossibe to keep up with due to geography (compared to something like Ottomans for example) Shiia rebellions are plain stupid in this version and the plagues do not help at all. Obviously I'm ♥♥♥♥♥ at playing Egypt but am I the only one with such an experience? Loved Ottos, Loved Tunis and Marocco playthroughs but Mamluks feel like sitting on broken glass...
