Looked at what i could claim, it was almost 4 provinces of theirs. then they send unconditional surrender and now i can only claim 3 provinces.

it was the claim throne.
but right before they surrendered i set up claims on their land and i could take a certain amount and could see it would be accepted. (my heir died earlier in the war and the claim throne couldn't be selected, so took land instead)
then they surrender and then i couldn't get accept on the land i had just chosen 10 seconds before.

Apparently the control values of sieged provinces are differend when the nation unconditionally surrenders than they are when just sieged down by your armies. This can lead to a different amount of warscore for provinces.

I had to look that up myself, but now i understand why i was able to make Volhynia a fiefdom as Poland in two campaigns but not in the third when they unconditionally surrendered.

At least they let u send peace proposals, wait until you are dragged into an undeclinable revolt world war and you dont have any say
