Fall of the Samurai is a standalone game, not merely a DLC.

There are two games: Shogun 2, and Shogun 2: The Fall of the Samurai. Two, separate games. Shogun 2 was made first, and Fall of the Samurai was then released after.

Fall of the Samurai (FotS) uses the engine and many of the assets of Shogun 2, so Steam downloads these core files when you buy FotS; the result is that your Steam library says you "own" Shogun 2, but in reality, you may only have FotS. That is what confuses people such as yourself. To make matters worse, both FotS and Shogun 2 use the same front-end/main menu when you load the game.

But it is simple to verify what you have and what you don't:

1) Start your FotS

2) On the main menu, click the campaign/New game tab

3) There will be three tabs that then appear to the right: "Shogun 2"; "Fall of the Samurai"; "Rise of the Samurai."

4)If you are unable to click a tab, it means you do not own that campaign.

5) If you do own that campaign, you will be able to click the tab and proceed to the next screen, where you select your clan and such.

So if you purchased FotS, that is what you own. If the "Shogun 2" tab can't be selected from the main menu, it means you only/ own FotS.

To play the original Shogun 2 campaign, you will have to purchase "Shogun 2."

ok i understand my english is awful, but i havent see where the funny is.

i paid 13 dollor for " fall of sumurai", i thought it incloud shogun 2 and the DLC.

then i want to play shogun 2, i search "shogun2" in steam shop

it shows that i already have this game.

but in the main menu of my game campaign/New game interface, only the fall of samurai is available.

now im confuse whether i own it or not.

if i have it, how can i launch it.

if i dont have it, how can i buy it.

its steam that make a mistake, and sega dont want to explan it or fix it,

and problem is you that bought item and its still require s2 as bought item, even then steam say's you own it in the library, if you wanna play it

and S2 is also a requirement for RotS

and we are so tired of this that sega sux bigtime and is even worse then EA worst game company that dont explan anything in steam game forum

You bought the standalone DLC Fall of the Samurai, it uses the same launcher as Shogun 2 (Hell I wouldn't be surprised if it even makes you download all of Shogun 2) this confuses the steam store but all you own is Fall of the Samurai if you want to play Shogun 2 vanilla you need to buy Shogun 2.

yes i recommend returning it through the steam refund process then buying regular shogun 2, however if you also want fall of the samurai i believe steam has a $50 bunble right now that includes shogun 2, fall of the samurai, and all the little dlcs for the games if you wanted to do that.
