Adding more games in the future?

If they did add more games, it would only be ones the Sega published unless they somehow acquire the rights.

We already have every game Sega has published in their Genesis/MD collections for the past couple of decades, there have never been any more, which leads to the conclusion that there never can be any more legally.

There are several games owned by Sega that have been missing from the Steam collection that could be sold at a future date: Afterburner II, G-LOC: Air Battle, Out Run, Turbo Outrun, Outrunners, Outrun 2019, Jewel Master, Super Hang On, Virtua Racing,

After Burners, and all of the Outrun games contain licensed 3rd party properties that they no longer have the rights to, and therefore can no longer sell.
Super Hang-on for whatever reason only has the arcade version released anymore. There may be some unknown issue with that. The Genesis/MD port has never been resold.

G-LOC is currently being sold on Nintendo, but it's the Game Gear version. Again, there may be a reason why the Genesis/MD port was never resold.

Jewel Master is more of an enigma. It has never once been released. Presumably there is some reason that is not readily apparent.

The issue with Outrun was the expired license with the car, which I believe was a Testarosa or something like that. They have released ports of the arcade version in the recent past that had the car sprite changed, so it's not like it's impossible to do.

I would like to see Sega put World Series Baseball on steam. They owned that one didn't they? Along with their football games? Maybe they can make a sports pack. As for not owning the rights to games, some of the Treasure games are on here, so maybe if the demand is there, Sega will get the license to put the games on here? Let's hope.

Yeah it's a real shame and one reason I hate the system of how liceneses are done.

I would be happy to buy every single megadrive game if they could.

Sadly the most memorable non-Sega games on this thing are lost to third-parties, expired licenses, or both. Stuff like Shadowrun, Rocket Knight, the one true Aladdin and even Moonwalker are never coming back without massive legal wrangling that I don't think Sega even wants to try.

I've said in a couple of posts but it is obvious SEGA intend to expand this collection they've gone out of there way after what 5 years to create an update for there mega drive emulator and they've upgraded everyone for free and put the thing on sale to get as many people as possible.

SEGA would not spend the time money and resources necessary to do this update if they did not intend to update in the future to get more money out of it.

That wouldn't make business sense.

I don't know what will come but I guarantee more will

Yes they would go out of their way to do that. Theyre NOT making money any other way. The old games is all theyre making money from. So by updating it.. people will buy more old games. The genesis collection rose to the top 10 steam list during a couple days of them updating it.. meaning they made more sales.

Then you know nothing of the Mega Drive emulated games from Sega. They've been selling this exact same set of games, repacked every few years into a new front-end/version for the past 20 years.
