Thing is that they have hp, ammo, armour etc. of their own. So once they are launched it's all up to them to surive.
And with there being some good AA weapons, they tends to die quickly.
Basicaly the landing pad would use a "parts" resource to respawn the plane after it's shot down. There would also be a storage modułe for parts. So you could have as many planes as you can store "parts"for.
Of course the storage would need crew and would have maintenance cost to balance things out.
Hussars - good in quantities in low tier tech campaign start. Easily shot down by mashineguns and flak
Gatling Skyboats - good against light airships, but easily shot down by mashineguns and flak
Triplanes - good against light airships, CAN'T intercept other planes
Biplanes - good against light airships, CAN intercept other planes
Biplanes (rocket) - good against light and medium airships that lack armor
Bombers - good against most targets, except the most heavily armored ones, fly high above target, which makes it very diffucult to shot down even by flak, in most cases completely immune to mashine guns
Torpedo bombers - good against slow heavy armored targets, in most cases immune to flak, but vulnerable to mashineguns
In order to have planes rearmed and repaired and commands given to them special modules need to be installed on your carrier.
It is adviced to make dedicated carrier, instead of carrier battleship as the latter one needs a lot of ammo storages, while combined with carrier modules might become either too heavy to fly, either much more vulnerable to fires, by comparison with regular battleship - which will make it much less tanky carrier by comparison with dedicated one.
Heraldy for carrier gameplay:
Vol - gives great bonuses to plane speed and dodge, making planes almost impossible to be shot down even by concentrated AA fire.
Tech for carrier gameplay:
Monocoque construction gives great bonuses to planes speed and dodge, when combined with Vol heraldy your planes become almost impossible to shot down at all, unless the enemy has large quantities of biplanes
