bonus is that they are recent, unlike every other mod that are multiple years old and there are plenty of chances some features are completely broken (or most of the mod is obsolete because similar stuff has been implemented in vanilla since then, or other)
Ammo's mods, like the one mentionned above were known for their quality back in the days, though they don't work just as well now, they were a pretty solid choice and should still mostly work fine
combined with a large chunk of the community on the discord that mainly plays vanilla for multiplayer and designs meta ships, and lots of people that just don't bother with mods or find vanilla sufficient
really there's just very few people willing to actually make properly fleshed out mods, though there are still some around and mods in development of course
