No Fragment from Moon Disk
So I finally managed to assemble a monstrous battle fleet strong enough to destroy that big orange ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and I don't get any moon fragment. All I get is 2000 research which is completely useless since I'm already at tier 5.

Destroying the moon disk is such a huge investment of resources that it should be guarunteed that the player gets the only real reward that comes from it.

You can destroy the moon disk with one ship if it has enough ammo.

Don't use rockets. Wasps and moon disks are basically immune to rockets.
Use a really, really high damaging weapon, i assume the moon disk is a modded monster so you should use mega railguns, at least 4,
The moon disk is not modded. It's a very rare and powerful beast.
Like all things in this game, you want the highest possible DPS, while still being able to do damage.

Depending on how much armor the moon disk has (I've got no idea, since I've not faced one) you're going to need a bigger gun. When all else fails, use the imperial cannon en masse.
I have no idea what this thing even is but it sounds incredibly cool
It's a disk, presumably from the moon, which shoots a torpedo with 360 degrees of fire arc every seven or eight seconds. Well, extra-damage torpedoes with a larger blast radius. And has good armour and probably the most HP of any monster.

Thing is, it -only- has its moon torpedoes.

But yes, by the time I can hunt down a moon disk I've already won the campaign. Otherwise the CPU gets it first.

So if you get that moon disk thing what is it for? Maybe new armor for ships or something? Or you can make your own moon like a deathstar or something?
You can play around with it in the design&fight menu.

I see it as a large suspendium chamber that doesn't have to be at the top and doesn't explode, but is particularly vulnerable to imperial cannon unless you have keels.
Can you put the special suspendium chamber on more than 1 ship?
Go play around with it in design&fight.
I think it will be a long time before I am able to defeat a moon.
The moon disk gives you the moon fragment 1/3rd of the time, which is a completely overpowered suspendium chamber that has huge lift, doesn't need coal, and can be placed anywhere. You can also place multiple of them on a ship.
I've managed to design a ship that can do one-on-one with the moon disk so hopefully I find another.
The lift/pound of the moon disk fragment is twice that of a large suspendium chamber including its coal room. This makes it good for ships brushing up against the structural integrity limit. If you include the extra armour needed so the moon fragment is vaguely as tough as the crystal, then you consume most of the advantage in weight. On the other hand, armour weight doesn't contribute to the integrity limit.

The lift/dollar is 15% less on the moon fragment. Way less if you add armour.

It has 20 hp/square, whereas the large crystal has 33.

0.33 hp/dollar, with the crystal at 1.15.

lol I kill the moon disk with...ok be surprise

5 ships that cost $900 ($4500)
my ships are basically extremely fast rammed ships so I ram the disk until it died.
who will win?
A GIANT DEADLY DISK FROM SPACE THAT NEEDS A GIANT FLEET TO DISTROY vs some fast bois
:steamsalty:
Oooh that sounds like a good strategy. My tactic has always insanely huge battleships with a couple escorts.
