Why Zoom Platform and not GOG?

Yup, GOG decided that we're too brutal and they do not allow AO rated games on their platform. Similarly to how Twitch did.

GOG recently revised their politics regarding AO games.

They've accepted games like Succubus, Agony UNRATED, Subverse, and tons of anime booba games (even the new Senran Kagura game is coming to GOG).

There are still many GOG customers who want to see Hatred in the store and in their libraries.

We've been notified about that change long ago. As I've replied back then - it's way too late now. We're no longer developing the game, the tech it uses is outdated a lot and porting this game to a new platform is a no-go.

I can't even imagine what needs to be "ported" for GOG, because it's just a digital PC store, not a "platform" (like PlayStation, Xbox or something like that).

Perhaps you mean the achievements for the GOG Galaxy? It's not such a big loss as many GOG users don't even use the client.

People just want to see a DRM-Free (offline installer) copy of the game in their preferred store.

It's far more than just achievements. You want offline installer and that's cool, but that's not all that a dev needs to do to show up on the GOG store. We ported Ancestors Legacy there and we know exactly what needs to be done.

Hey, I just wanted to give support to the idea (unless you already did this recently, like within the past two years) of contacting GOG and mentioning (correct me if I'm wrong) that you're willing to provide a DRM-free installer but that's it. I may be very mistaken but I think most GOG users don't care about achievements and GOG may be more flexible about this than in the past.

All that said, thank you for working with Zoom-Platform to create a DRM-free version. I won't "pester" about a GOG release, but I did want give feedback at least once.

GOG did not want it, which is odd given their constant going on about 'preservation'

We, at Zoom-Platform, did. So we worked out a deal and now it's DRM-Free! We don't just say preservation for a few likes on Twitter, we mean in. Hatred is a fun title that reminds us of the exploration cinema hayday, we're very happy to have it on the store.

Zoom Platform is better than gog anyways so I'm glad it's there instead. The installers are better letting you know what files are being installed and they also have better compression with smaller files overall. Not the publishers fault gog rejected it.

At the moment, Zoom Platform is a very niche store, predominantly for US users, while GOG offers a better experience for users around the world (support for different languages and currencies, regional prices, etc.).

Adding Hatred to the catalog isn't enough to make GOG customers switch from GOG to Zoom Platform.

When Zoom Platform becomes a full-fledged alternative to GOG, then we'll see.

Speaking of real deeds instead of Twitter bravado about preserving video game history... Where's Devotion?

As far as I remember, you (Zoom Platform) promised to release it.

At no point did we 'promise' to release Devotion. We expressed interest in releasing it after GOG had released it then pulled it due to backlash from...well, they blamed you guys actually, their customers. We reached out to Red Candle, but at that point they had already setup their store to sell it through their website. I'd suggest a little more research is done before you starting accusing of people of saying things (that were never said) it does nothing but deflect from the topic and also make things look a little silly :)

We offer DRM-Free titles, we support consumer choice. We can't control if a store decides something has no place on their storefront. We saw the value of Hatred, so we made an effort to bring it to Zoom. The consumer now has options between buying a Steam version, or a DRM-Free version.

I hope this clears up, but please do not openly lie about Zoom-Platform. Karpowski.
