How do you summon Eidolons?

I press Y and B and nothing happens. Is there something I missed or am I doing it wrong?

how far you're in the game? you can start summoning during the Capture of Togoreth Stronghold mission.

if you already finished that mission, you have to choose summons before each mission (can't summon if you're not doing a mission).
