So the Movie Depot wasn't changed at all even interesting. Defenatly not an issue with the video files then.

Also weird that the package files dropped by 1,2 GB suddenly in the new Depot

Can confirm it's a working fix though through the main movie. Gonna play through some end game stuff and see if they're okay there. Worth a shot. Thanks Aemony

Yeah, I dunno what's up with the game files being changes... Oh, do note that the download is compressed. It's possible that the data files are the same, or close to, the original size after they've been downloaded and extracted.

I'm still downloading, as we have to download the game again with the patch files. It will take some time, but maybe in a few hours we will have some response for you. Who has downloaded and finished first, leave a comment for the staff

If one would want to feel experimental, one could try out a combination with the new game executable (fftype0hd.exe) from the QA build combined with the game files of the public build. If that works, then users would only need to download that small ~7 MB package or whatever it is.

I haven't tested it myself as there's even more risk with that than to just ensure all files are of the intended version.

Well, as I am not affiliated with Square Enix this is the limit of my ability. I don't think it's dumb though for me to attempt to help the community in the way I can. If anything it's the very opposite.

... Since we haven't heard from them at all during this whole week, I've documented how you can download the QA build off of Steam over on the PCGamingWiki.[pcgamingwiki.com]

Notes
  • It's an unpublished QA build of the game. Use at your own risk!
  • Preferably, make backups of your game saves before using! These are stored in
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyType-0HD\save\SYSTEMDATA
  • This requires a download of about 13.5 GB of data since apparently they also changed some of the game archives as well.
  • If you decide to store it elsewhere than in the game folder you'll have to copy the movies folder over from the original game folder (it's included in the instructions).

Only reason this is even possible is because of an oversight/mistake on Square Enix's part when they originally published the QA build unprotected (aka public) to Steam which allowed SteamDB to cache the manifest IDs needed to download it...

I've confirmed that this seems to solve at least some of the cutscenes in the beginning. I am not equipped to verify the whole game, nor can I guarantee that this doesn't add any other issues or the like for the game.
Thank you! It's working perfectly now :D

I'm guessing there's an approval process. Square Enix is a company and not a small time dev so there are more procedures to follow before things go public.

Setting a QA password is apparently to not one of them

Could someone explain me what is going on ? My English comprehension has limits you reached when you began to talk about the Aemony fix... I understood that Aemony fixed the issue but we have to uninstall and reinstall the game right ? And then we put Aemony's file in the new downloaded game file ?

He didn't "fix" the issue, exactly, but found a way to download the version that SE is currently testing for release. It is not something we are supposed to have access to, but SE made a bit of a mistake and made the files public(ish).

But since this version seems to work without any serious issues, it should only be a matter of time before the game is update officially with that version.
