How to take the damn hookshot?!

I already spend more then 20min trying to grab that hookshot but still no succes!!!!
i move rebecca to the lever so she can release it,
move Billy (with right analog stick) to the hookshot so he can take it.
When the lock gets released nobody takes it!!!!

WHAT AM I MISSING PLZZZZZ :-s

after rebecca pulls lever you switch to billy and press the action button. Be sure to have 2 blocks of space in your inventory.

It's because you must SWITCH character... Not just move the other one with secondary controls.

You need to switch characters to do that.
(1st select someone to operate the lever)
(2nd make sure the other character is standing in front of the Hookshot gun)
(3rd) make sure that the one using the controles doesn't move after switching sides again!

Were you able to do it? I cant either, no amount of button mashing helps. I have space in both inventories, im in solo mode, but i cant switch when the hookshot thing is open

@Kekchose - If you did what everyone above said and it's still not working , make sure the character you're trying to pick the Hookshot up with DOESN'T have the shotgun in their inventory.

So if you made Billy pick up the shotty (which is 2 slots), make him pull the lever and let switch to Rebecca to pick it up. It seems you're only allowed one primary or 2 slot weapon per character.
