Borderless isn't an option for me. The game's 'video' options area only has fullscreen and windowed. On top of that, it doesn't support my resolution as well. I run 1366x768. Closest the game supports is 1360x768 or 1600x900.
UPDATE
While I was testing and typing this, I had the game set to fullscreen. Then I changed it to windowed, hit apply, and I got the same exact crash. I didn't even alt tab this time.
This game is busted.
L4D2. Skyrim. Spore. Fallout. Dark souls. Borderlands. RE2 and 3. Subnautica. Over a hundred more in my library.
From old games to indie games to remasters to modern AAA titles, I've played them all extensively and never had any issues like this with my whole ass screen resolution not being supported.
I don't think my setup is sub-par.
Been a while, but I remember with absolute certainty that I had just started playing for the first time. I don't think I had saved the game a single time. Always crashed before I could get to any save point.
