RE5 just added an option to use strafe in some of the control schemes, but it's still tank controls since Up still allways moves the characters in the direction they're facing, unlike in RE6 where movement is camera-based.
The puzzles are fun to play only for the first time, maybe that is why some people doesn't like puzzle game.
rev is more like (e: classic) re than re5&6 or even 4
Revelations series is not only similar to main titles gameplay-wise, many assets and animations are also reused. You can only compare Revelations to the good ol' fixed-camera survival-horror titles on a most superficial level imo.
