Which do I play first? RE0 or RE1?
Thank you!

If you jump from 1 to 4, you're missing three main games: RE2, RE3 and RECV (assuming you do play RE0)

RE3 remake isn't even a thing yet, there's no guarantee or confirmation that what you're waiting for will actually ever happen, and if it does, it won't be anytime soon.

If you want to get a grasp on the overall series timeline, just play the games as they exist now. Start with 1 and 0 (or 0 and 1 if you want to be strict about chronology) then play RE2 (Claire A - Leon B is the most true to the current canon), RE3, RECV, 4, Revelations, 5, Revelations 2, 6 and 7.

I do wish we had Code Veronica HD on Steam, I know we are getting RE2 Remake in early 2019, RE3: Nemesis Remake has been confirmed by Capcom, that they'll do more remasters and remakes in the future if people demand it alot. Unless they want to remake Code Veronica but who knows.

They do, but it is much larger in scale than RE3. It is more than twice as large.

I am new to the Resident Evil Universe and wanted to play the game in order. I bought the Humble RE bundle and have RE1, RE0, 4, 5, 6 as part of my steam library. Of the games still available on steam, I still need to get RE REV 2, RE7 and the upcoming RE2 remaster. I was also of thinking of getting RECV right now on Xbox since it is on sale for $5.

My question is can I still play the series in sequence especially the later ones without RE2(not yet released) or RE3? Will I be missing any necessary story plots by skipping those 2 games, jumping from RE1 to RE4? Ok. I can always try to find an RE3 emulated PS2 copy I suppose while waiting for the remade RE2 to come out in a few weeks. It is the only RE game missing from my collection in that timeline once I get RE Revelations 2 and RE CV during the current Xbox sale.

No idea what's that supposed to mean, but in case you didn't notice you have replied to a thread from five years ago.
