As for the subs, all of To the Moon's subs were kindly community-generated, and it's likely that something will also come about with Finding Paradise -- I'll try to give it some help myself too this time around, though!
As for my question, at what point in the development of To the Moon did you know this story was going to span multiple games? Did it always start as a series or did you choose to do so later on in development?
For the series question: Honestly, I can't recall if it was started as a series, but definitely grew into the idea (of having the potential at least) before it was completed. And on that note, To the Moon was initially gonna be a 30-minute game, with a first promo poster saying "Coming April 2010"; and then expanded and released as a 4-hour game a year and a half later. There's an inside joke at Freebird's forum where any time I delay a launch, the thing's ETA is April 2010. :p I think I might still have that 30-minute version somewhere buried in the deep.
I'd like to ask how long Finding Paradise would be. Is it something like To-The-Moon-long?
Lot's of love (and I mean LOT'S) from Poland.
How will this be further explored in Finding Paradise and how long will Finding Paradise be? I know that each episodic game features a patient and his/her story but now that you teased us quite a bit in the Minisodes, will there be larger emphasis on Neil and Eva or will the main focus of the story be the patient?
Also, this may just be me gushing but I think that your game/s has such a fantastic story and now that you made me much more aware of the people in Sigmund Corp, I would like to see more of them in feature episodes. In other words, I hope that you do not end the story with Finding Paradise. You have created a story so amazing, it's setting fascinating and its characters so intriguing and interesting. It would be great if you could expand even further on it with more episodes. I know that I speak for everyone when I say that your writing has touched my heart and soul. I have never been this engaged and invested in a story from a game. It's simply astounding!
As for the music, so far it's all composed by me (as was with To the Moon, with the exception of Everything's Alright).
@Pieron:
Finding Paradise might be a bit longer than To the Moon, actually -- right now it seems like it'd be around 5 hours or so. And thank you, I'm glad you were able to find something from it. c:
Oops, your post went up after I pressed post for the previous one -- FP's length is answered there, at around 5 hours. It actually does extend the path of the minisodes a bit, particularly the 2nd one. Although its emphasis is still mainly with the patient's life story, there're some elements introduced that is going toward a more overarching story to tie certain things regarding the doctors' & Sigmund Corp. together.
In fact, leading to your last point, it is indeed also making way for a game taking place after FP, that will have a somewhat contrasting and darker theme from the previous games - sci-fi/suspense instead of drama, perhaps. c: Cheers, and thanks for supporting the series' universe!
Keep up the awesome work, Kan & Co.!
But there's one thing that I don't understand: Why don't you use a newer version of the RPG Maker? From the pictures it looks like you are still using the XP Version which is more than 10 years old I think. Are there features in RPG Maker XP that the never versions don't have?
Hey man, can you give me a copy? I got a friend whom I want to play the game but he isn't so keen on purchasing the game himself since he "do not like story games" and "hates to read".
Also will the soundtrack be completely original, no music from to the moon, or some remix included? Also bigger amount of tracks or pretty much the same?
Last one, will it be the last episode? I hope so, waiting 5 more years after another cliffhanger, i don't know if i can handle it, haha
Thanks again for answering our question! Greetings from switzerland!
