Pve Dark infusion melee options?
I'm curious what are the best slash and also strike melee weapon for dark infusion
I rushed and got the black cryptsword, despite the damage it is far too slow for pve.
Any opinions on sacred chime hammer for pve?

Sacred Chime Hammer is the same, ultra power but really slow.

If you don't wanna use something simple like a Dark Longsword, there's the Silverblack Spear (very popular), the Silverblack Sickle (sucks tho, as pve shield users cheat).

There's also the boss weapon Roaring Halberd... which is tricky to use since it requires hitting with the exact point

Insolent mace. Can be buffed with dark weapon and used to chime hexes for massive damage.
Dark is better for PvP. There's a few enemies with high dark res. Lightning or magic is better for pve.

Ya, there's like only 2 PvE enemies that resist dark

ty, anyone got suggestions on a good pve slash weapon?
Been using +10 magic mace and its doing pretty well itself, is the insolent mace much better?

use anything the hell you want just infuse it with dark....and buff it with dark weapon

DONE :D

And well I really liked Red Iron Twiblade. Bit slower then others. But slashes harder! Great for both pve and pvp actually :D .

Dark Longsword+10, deals piercing and slashing damage, and after infusion, it scales at C-STR/D-DEX/B-[insert primary elemental scaling stat]

You can easily squeeze around 415 AR out of it with 20+ STR, 9 DEX, and 30/30 INT/FTH.

Am i missing something? Last time i checked Persuer, Old Dragonslayer, Executioner Charriot, Freje, Rotten, Darklurker, Veldstad, Vendrick, Nashandra, Elanana and a few other dlc bosses were resistant to dark.

moreover, only the Last GIant, Giant Lord, Guardian Dragon and Demon of Song are vulnerable to Dark.

compared to say lightning, which has 12 vulnerable bosses and only 4 resistant bosses (not counting DLC).

and please dont say hexes are OP and lightning spears suck when talking about melee weapons.

thats wonderful that you are right about lightning. I didn't realize I asked about lightning, or whether I should always use it because its better.

Lightning is great against any enemy with heavy METALLIC armor, meaning just about every humanoid enemy in the game, bosses included. However, the damage type that all enemies are least resistant to is *bludgeoning physical damage.*

Want the best of both worlds?

Grab a club, max it out, and infuse it with lightning. Get your STR to 40, INT to 14, and your FTH to 55. Now buff using Dark Weapon or Sunlight Blade. Win the game.

What else is there to say? Grab some Darknight Stones, grab a few weapons with interesting movesets, doublecheck the wiki for the scaling, and *BAM!* the thread is over.

Dark Roaring Halberd?

That thing is a beast, one or two shots just about everything i come across (outside the dlc areas) with the weight being the only real downside.

Another option would be Dark Fume Sword, which while not the most damaging weapon (in comparison to Roaring Halberd) it has a stellar moveset and very good length and reach to it.
Blind Apr 24, 2015 @ 9:37pm
Only problem is the Roaring Halberd has a very tiny critical zone, and a rather large fail zone. However, nailing that critical zone it's easy to land over 1000 damage, which is insane for a halberd.
