It tends to take me 2 whips, around 3 attacks to bleed something but sometimes its just 2
I should note my 2 whips hit around 300+ bleed dmg each
You need to build up like 1000 bleed damage for it to proc, and in PvE the only effect is hp damage - most bosses and enemies don't have stamina per se.
It does 200 bleed dmg, cuts there stamina bar, and cause them to walk slower.
The move speed slow does effect monsters and some bosses. Effects last around 8 seconds where at that point you can bleed them again
Not once did I trigger a bleed. This is some bull right there.
The Bleed Bar also slowly depletes by itself if you don't hit the target. Plus only 120 bleed.
Bleed also scales with DEX
Yea you need your build COMPLETELY centered around bleed for it to work properly and be a true asset rather than a novelty. I had a character in vanilla DS2 (haven't gotten around to making them again here) that was completely centered around bleed and it can be a huge help when used right.
If you want to do a pure bleed build you will need the crest of blood from the Brotherhood of Blood, Shadow Gauntlets dropped from the shadow assassins, at least 40 DEX and a few points in faith (for some reason bleed gets a bonus from faith) and a weapon or set of weapons that has very high bleed buildup and physical damage. It can DESTROY people because of the slows and stamina reduction and the bonus damage is nice, and while they're slowed you can keep on whaling on em.
All of that said, bleed could use a buff I feel. Its nowhere near the ridiculousness that was DS1 bleed (30% max health gone on proc and all the weapons with bleed were VERY strong, it was very much OP in the first game) but they pushed it too far in the other direction. Its helpful when used in a build designed to maximise it, but its very difficult to do right.
Imo if you're looking for a status effect build, go for poison. Only thing wrong with it is that some monsters are immune and pvp players can green moss it.
Last thing, if you're dead set on bleeding something, do it right. Pick a weapon with innate bleeding(either a fast weapon or one with high bleed damage), then infuse it with bleed stone, now equip both the Crest of Blood and Shadow Gauntlet.
Sammich, where's the bonus when it never ever triggers? Like I said, I scored consecutive hits on Jester Thomas just as fast as if I had fired arrows.
Just seems silly that getting poison on your enemies is so trivial, but getting them to bleed requires the entire character built around it. Oh well, FPS durablity bug
