First time player: order of exploring areas.
Is there a general order of exploring areas? I'm the kind of gamer that gets kind of frustrated when I have to chose between multiple paths.
Overall I like my first playthrough to be as blind as possible but it would put my mind at ease, knowing that I'm following some sort of logical order.

So far I've defeated the Rotten and the Lost Sinner.

If you're that far, you can go anywhere without worrying of being underleveled, if by "logical order" you mean order of difficulty.

There are some "recommended" orders, but the path is very open for the first half of the game. The goal in the first half is to defeat the 4 Primal Lords and light the 4 Primal bonfires, in any order. If you've already defeated 2 of the 4, you seem to be progressing in the right direction.

Well this link seems to summarize my path so far. Although I was planning on going to the Iron Keep now, instead of the Shaded Woods ( as the link recommends). Is there a significant difficulty scaling between those 2?

Iron keep is going to be more poison focused in the first half and the second half will be mainly fire focus. Shaded woods will be dark focused, followed by enemy focus (expect metric ♥♥♥♥ tons of enemy spiders)

Iron keep is ussally a bit easier than shaded woods.

depends on your class. One path is easier for spell casters, the other easier for melee.

If you find your ass being handed to you in one direction head a different way. To be honest you can do this game however you want, you can do a SL 1 run so there's no where you can't do without trial and error.

Pain Ahead, don't give up.

......

AND JOLLY COOPERATION!

I do like to summon other players on occasion but I'm always left with the feeling of cowardice when doing so. Especially as a mage, 1 extra player basically gives me unlimited freedom to kill the boss (so far ).

From what I've seen of the game... if you're dying you're doing it right.

I find Iron Keep harder than Shaded Woods, entirely because of how fast those samurai knight wannabes can draw out their swords, added to the fact there's very long range archers and the Smelter demon is harder than the Iron Keep primal bonfire boss.

Shaded Woods does have invisible enemies, but once you know where you're going, you can just sprint right past them and they're only in 1 area. The spiders aren't even remotely tough, as they have low hp and is easily staggered. The bosses that's in the Shaded Woods path are super easy.

But Iron Keep isn't so much harder that you need to go to Shaded Woods first.

Souls veterans tend to run every area by themselves and it's just for that little added difficulty. No one thinks any less of you especially as a first time player to it summoning people, hell the Sunbro's are putting their grossly incandescent signs down TO help people exactly like you. And as you progress and get more into the game you'll find yourself doing more and more weird things, wait and see eventually you'll try the butterfly puncher build like everyone else here and feel a sense of accomplishment that is better then what completing high school and university! =D

Seriously, they made that set for you to have the funnest time on. xD

Or become real jerks and invade you during Mirror Knight boss and spam Warmth on the boss.
Not that I have ever done that mind you. ;)

Okay, that's my BoB character who is a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. xD, also pulling invasions with chameleon and just waiting for that perfect moment to land a one hit KO backstab with something like a great hammer, or a halberd...

Yes, there are plenty of people just out there to make your life in Darksouls worse. Mind you if an ♥♥♥♥ wraith invades you just remember all that crap about dueling is only for Arenas and the Iorn bridge, everywhere else they're free game, use the seed of the giants, use your estus like a boss after landing a backstab or after they put alot of effort into an attack that missed, 2+v1 them, it's an invasion, they're being a ♥♥♥♥ so you have the right to be a ♥♥♥♥ back. :P
