Scholar of the First Sin *UPGRADE*
So I din't find any info and clear explanation.

I have Dark Souls 2.

If I buy the Scholar of the First Sin UPGRADE, will I get BOTH: the Dark Souls 2 + DLC's with "updated graphics" and stuff? Or I only will get the DLC content with new graphics but if I would like to play the old content I will have to close the game and start the old version?

I hope you understood my question

They are two different games. There's the original version that you can buy the individual DLC's for, and there's the new version which includes the DLC's as part of the entire game. If you want to switch to the old version you have to quit the new one and launch the old one. Two completely separate games.

SOTFS DX 11 is a whole new download, in no way connected to your vanilla DS2. And only the DX11 SOTFS has the updated graphics and the new enemy placements, item placements etc.

OK, so If i want to go back to Majula, I basically - can't. ???
Also, will my character stay when I start the new content?

I had only DS2 (no DLC) when I bought the upgrade.
Now I still have DS2 (without any DLC), and DS2: SFS. Saves are not compatible.

I have no idea what you're trying to ask in your first question but the answer to your second question is no; saves are not cross-compatible between DX11 and DX9 due to the new enemy/item placements etc.

Not really sure what you're asking here. Scholar of the First Sin is the ENTIRE game. It includes everything the original Dark Souls 2 did, along with all DLC, all in a single game along with some other adjustments and extras.

SotFS is a separate game. Saves are not compatible. If you buy the upgrade you will have the old DS2 without DLC and you will have DS2:SotFS.

DS2:SotFS contains a changed DS2 with all of the old content and all of the DLC, but things have been changed. Items and monsters have been moved and new things have been added.

So yes, you can go to Majula. All of the areas that exist to date are there.

The saves are not compatible because item and creature placements in the new game are very different. It's not just a few monsters added here and there, it's monsters and NPCs and treasure thrown up in the air and rearranged to your new CEO Mr Miyazaki's liking. Of the three bonfires are least affected followed by NPCs. Many of the game's minibosses are moved and I'd guess about 60% of everything else is different. Altogether a much more "souls" like exeprience.

OMG this is worse then I thought.
Another question: Is it even possible to progress in the NEW content with a completly new character?

No it isn't.

Right now around 10,000 of us are playing the game but I don't think anyone has figured out how to leave Things Betwixt, yet. It is so hard.

But really what are you asking.

I wanna know if it is possible to progress in the new content with 0 items and a completely new character?

To try and put it simply:

-SofTS is a seperate game, the "upgrade" package is simply a discounted price nothing more it is not upgrading your old DS 2 download

-SofTS is Dark Souls 2 + The DLC with the improved graphics and tweaks to enemy layout

-Nothing carries over from the original DS 2 to SofTS you're starting over again

Wow, I am glad it's not just me.

You HAVE to make a new character to play Scholar of the First Sin. That's the only way to play it. You can't use an old one. So yes it's possible to play the game with a new character because that's the only way to do it.

Yes. In this new DS2 you start a new character just like you did in the old DS2. You go through Things Betwixt, Majula and Forest of the Fallen Giant just like before.

What's your problem? You're really starting to come off as a troll here...

Let me say it in a simple way: If you do not have the DLC yet, buying this at the upgrade price is the best way to have the complete game.
