Also, will my character stay when I start the new content?
Now I still have DS2 (without any DLC), and DS2: SFS. Saves are not compatible.
Not really sure what you're asking here. Scholar of the First Sin is the ENTIRE game. It includes everything the original Dark Souls 2 did, along with all DLC, all in a single game along with some other adjustments and extras.
SotFS is a separate game. Saves are not compatible. If you buy the upgrade you will have the old DS2 without DLC and you will have DS2:SotFS.
DS2:SotFS contains a changed DS2 with all of the old content and all of the DLC, but things have been changed. Items and monsters have been moved and new things have been added.
So yes, you can go to Majula. All of the areas that exist to date are there.
Another question: Is it even possible to progress in the NEW content with a completly new character?
No it isn't.
Right now around 10,000 of us are playing the game but I don't think anyone has figured out how to leave Things Betwixt, yet. It is so hard.
But really what are you asking.
-SofTS is a seperate game, the "upgrade" package is simply a discounted price nothing more it is not upgrading your old DS 2 download
-SofTS is Dark Souls 2 + The DLC with the improved graphics and tweaks to enemy layout
-Nothing carries over from the original DS 2 to SofTS you're starting over again
Wow, I am glad it's not just me.
Yes. In this new DS2 you start a new character just like you did in the old DS2. You go through Things Betwixt, Majula and Forest of the Fallen Giant just like before.
What's your problem? You're really starting to come off as a troll here...
Let me say it in a simple way: If you do not have the DLC yet, buying this at the upgrade price is the best way to have the complete game.
