My bow only run is killing me

I could just pull out a dagger and BAMBN BAMn BOOOM finish a boss the old fashioned way, but bows... BOWS MAN, How'd you like a weapon that does half the damage at half the speed for 50% more stamina...

git gud scrub. But in all seriousness the B team really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ us on the bows in this one. Try to use the composite bow or one of the greatbows.

You aren't doing it right. I've done a bow-only build before.

Maximize your damage against bosses by using the Old Leo Ring. Arrows actually do deal thrust damage, and most bosses are usually constantly in attack / recovery frames. The 12.5% helps a ton. RoB / Flynn's is always good for bow builds. If you're ballsy and are good at dodging, grab the Red Tearstone Ring from the middle path at the Shaded Woods split, always go in with low HP. No reason not to use it if you're low on equip load and high on AGL. Most bosses are extremely easy to dodge while ranging, remember you can cancel an arrow by rolling while holding the arrow.

For general PvE, use the Stone Ring for sheer stopping power.

Stone Ring, eh? Hmmm... could work. However, not sure if Flynns will work for me - it might, but isn't that more for Avelyns? IDK - I only used Flynns once.

Bows are just crappy in this game, not viable as a main weapon. This is why this kind of gameplay is a challenge run. However, if you're doing a challenge, don't complain about it being a challenge. :D

Well, I'm at the very start of the challenge - using only the starting 25 (ish) arrows it took most of my souls to get more arrows (lenny's key plus extras). I only have Dragonrider down so far (But this is my third attempt)

Also, wiki says Flynns doesn't work on bows.

Are you using Fextralife? Use Wikidot, Fextralife has wrong information most times. Flynn's Ring works on ALL weapons.

Ya, was on Fextralife. Fextralife also claims that many weapons in game state the wrong Counter Damage, but all the stats on the page are their in game values so IDK WHAT

Flynn's / RoB works on all weapons regardless. I'd trust the dude with 800+ hours over a wiki made by 12 year olds over a year and a half ago. Old data is old.

It does increase the damage, IIRC. I'll run some tests.

So Flynn's / RoB does increase the damage displayed, but not the actual damage, both with crossbows and bows. I do not have a greatbow to test with on my twink, but I can assume. You learn something new everyday.

Old Leo Ring however does work, same with Red Tearstone, just tested to make sure.

Still stand by my statement of Fextralife being ♥♥♥♥♥. Wikidot is usually the go-to place.

Light Crossbow w/ Heavy Bolts: 83
Light Crossbow w/ Heavy Bolts, on counter w/ Leo Ring: 94
Light Crossbow w/ Heavy Bolts, on counter w/ Leo Ring, RTSR activated: 122

You can see the huge damage boost here. :P

More spam, but in testing damage numbers more, Clutch Rings do in fact work on infused bows.

Lightning Short Bow +1 w/ Lacerating Arrows: 44
Lightning Short Bow +1 w/ Lacerating Arrows, Lightning Clutch Ring: 52
Lightning Short Bow +1 w/ Lacerating Arrows, LTN Clutch Ring, on counter w/ Leo: 58
Lightning Short Bow +1 w/ Lacerating Arrows, LTN Clutch Ring, on counter w/ Leo, RTSR: 68

So there you have the various ways to boost bow damage.

Just so you know, Flynn's ring will work on everything. However, if a weapon does not have any physical damage present, the RoB will be completely useless. Weapons like the Disc Chime will not benefit from the RoB.
