Anybody got a fix for the horrible movement/camera controls?
Seriously, I just beat Dark Souls 1 and wanted to move on to this one, the controls are really awful, how did they manage to screw that up is beyond me.

turn down camera sensetivity. that will fix your camera issue. as for movement, this game has a large range of motion for the stick, starting at an extremely slow speed and ramping up. unlike dark souls that had 2 walks and 1 run. what youre experiencing is proper control, if you want a larger deadzone, learn the basics of owning a computer:

configure your gamepad through windows before you use it. dont just plug it in and expect it to work like you want it to. that is why there is a configuration tool built into your control panel for this.

If you dropped the attitude then maybe people would be more willing to help you. You've been snapping back at anyone that has an opposing opinion.

I can't speak about the first Dark Souls since it's been a long time since I've played it and I can't really remember how it controls. But Dark Souls 2 is kinda iffy with the way it handles. Movements are kinda stiff and potentially hazardous in combat sometimes. But it's definitely not game breaking or any reason not to play it. After a bit you get used to it and don't really notice it anymore.

This is something I have seen on these forums multiple times so I assume it works. Personally I do not use it because I find the camera to be just fine and have never had any issues with dead zones, ever, in my 500+ combined hours of DkS2 and DkS2: SotFS but if you are having issues I suggest you check it out and see if it helps at all. Make sure you read the entire post, there is specifically a part about a version that doesn't work for DkS2: SotFS.

Not that it matters but this also shows up as litterally the first result in Google when typing in "dark souls 2 deadzone fix".

I hadn't noticed this was an old topic. Move along folks, nothing to see here.

Dude, what are you smoking? DS2 has the same exact movement and animations and a better turning while walking and all.
It's not.
The camera in DS2 has just two speeds: slow and very fast. While in DS1, DS3 (and basically any other game), camera speed is smoothly controlled by the tilt of the stick. You can check the video of the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GlsElUEGKk
Also try running circles in DS1 and DS2. In DS2 you run squares instead of circles:

Use the deadzone fix, OP. It doesn't fix the camera speed (it does fix the axis movement though) but it completely fixes character movement, which yes, is absolutely busted by default and anyone who tells you it isn't is an abject r tard. No, you will not get banned for using it.
Dark Souls 2 is my favorite Souls game, I adore it, but this fix is essential and it's a shame anyone plays and judges the game without it. https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls2/mods/76/?

When you have problems with a pc game, you should pretty much always check the PC gaming wiki. The deadzone fix is mentioned on the Dark Souls 2 page, though it is missing on the SOTFS page. https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dark_Souls_II

The camera control does kind of suck, but I hope you can get over it.

Deadzones and camera sensitivity are actually an issue, yeah. Obviously this doesn't mean that you cannot get used to it etc pp (I did, too) but being like "I can cope with it therefore it objectively is not a game flaw and everyone disagreeing is a crackhead" is just silly.

Super late response but i personally think the way the camera swings around your character feels awful and i wish there was a fix for it. In ds1 and most other games that need lots of precision, your character is always in the center of the screen no matter how you move the camera. In ds2 the camera swings around wildly when you're turning and makes the game feel that much less precise imo.

I agree with op. New camera movement is horrible. They changed deadzones. I never played worse game if we're talking about moving camera iwth controller. With mouse everything works well.

I've seen some mods but there's ban possibility with them

People on the internet say something different. I prefer to have access to online mode.
