Eye of the Priestess glitch - crown of the ivory king DLC

I picked up the eye of the priestess and now can see the ghosts, cool! about a minute later the game crashed for me, when I restarted, it spawned me infront of the priestess altar with the eye still there. Now I have the eye in my inventory, and can't pick up another one, and can't see the ghosts. What do I do?

That’s an incredibly unfortunate glitch, which may inadvertently prevent you from progressing, since the first boss is invisible without the eye. You may have to resort to using CE to remove the item from inventory, then try picking it up again or using CE to forcefully add it back in. You can also try the DS2 shopping mod over on Nexus mods, which lets you add any item in the game to any merchant in the game to be able to purchase it. Make sure you go offline while attempting either method.

By the way, I'm not sure if this item would even be purchasable for me, since I already have the eye in my inventory (that's why I can't pick up the one on the altar).

No, just do this in offline mode and you are fine.

The mod should override the issue, because it’s taking place in a context where you aren’t picking something up. Let me know if it works. You won’t get soft banned for using it offline.

The only other option would be to try again in NG+, or start a fresh character. You’ll have to skip that DLC until a future play through, unless you are a gaming god and can beat the first boss while it’s invisible.

cheat engine and shopping mod didn't work :/
CT tables I found don't have a script to remove items from inventory
shopping mod presents me with the same problem; "your inventory is full" (can't hold more than 1 eye concurrently)
well, I went ahead and spent a lot of my boss souls to push my character from 94 to 114 in hopes she'll be strong enough to go through it. I wanted to keep my character at that level for the entirety of the playthrough but I guess this warrants levelling up. I've been trying to brute-force the fight and sometimes I can get it below half HP before dying. It's not a pleasant experience at all.

Watch videos for strats on how to do that if you are determined. I've played Dark Souls 2 for over 5,000 hours and still have never attempted that feat. You might save some frustration waiting for NG+, since that will reset your character's key items. Sorry the mods didn't work :(
