Opinion on Red Iron Twinblade for PvE
I just started using this in place of my UGS. I feel like it may be more effective for me vs most mobs. It is faster, lighter weight, and does decent damage. The scaling isnt as good though, and damage is a bit down from the UGS. I did equip the stone ring and it seems like with that it affects poise almost as good as the UGS. i usually get in quite a few blows on most mobs before they can respond.

What are opinions on this sword as far as PvE goes? I am a strength build and tend to use havels armor along with havels shield. Encumberance is never above about 68% so no slow rolling. I like something with a nice reach and this one handed does a piercing movement like a lance which is great, and then follow up with slashes. Good for tight spaces. The UGS is just so big and clumsy.

I tried using the Kings Ultra Greatsword. and the blue smelter demon sword but they both seem even more slow and clumsy. The kings sword seems to act more like a club and only have the verticle swing. I like being able to do a wide slice to take out multiple mobs.

Anything out there you would prefer over the red iron twinblade if you were a strength build like me that tends to just tank through stuff with a shield and just dodge when i have to? Ive seen mention of Santiers spear. How does that compare? I guess both weapons have been changed in patches over time? Can be tough when you research stuff online, with all the changes that happen over time.

Twinblade is pretty OP I think, has solid scaling as well with strength, not sure what rating you're comparing it to that's better.

Well, when both are +10 the UGS goes to S scaling. The red iron twinblade is A. Pretty close though. I think the sheer speed of the weapon makes up for the small damage deficit.

This one: http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Greatsword

Just looked and for me the diference in damage between the two is 118. That is the base plus the bonus.

Twinblade has a pretty nice moveset with multiple hits, and it's just more fun to use than a Greatsword imo.
Also the piercing attack like you mentioned is nice to have.

I'd just go with whatever you like best, or switch between the 2 from time to time, for PvE you can easily get away with not having the best of the best.

Up to now I dont use any magic. Maybe I will start putting pts into faith. I guess faith adds more damage to lightning, right?

RIght now Im all melee. Should probably make use of magic.

I'd keep it uninfused tbh. The scaling is bad after you infuse it anyway.

Add Sunlight Blade or other appropriate buffs and watch bosses melt before your eyes.

Yes, Red Iron Twinblade is amazing. In fact, it's so good, I avoid picking it up because everything after that is just far too easy.

The only thing that I like better about the great sword is how easily it breaks poise. The Red Iron Twinblade doesnt do that as well. The stone ring helps though. As long as I dodge some though I can take down a mob without being hit. With the great sword I can stand there and just use the shield. The great sword is just too slow though. I like the twinblade a lot now.

Funny how it was just laying there in the swamp, not guarded by and special mob. Another awesome thing is how I can backstab with it! I love that.
